In my exige i used to run standard fuel for everything apart from track work. Your car has a knock sensor and can tell the difference. I never used supermarket fuel but some do. HTH cheers Ed

Scott,
I use BP unleaded fuel mainly because it is the only garage where I live and has run great over the past two years. I am not keen on supermarket fuel due to problems with a previous car but I guess it depends who supplies the supermarket. I occaisionally fill with super unleaded not sure if it really makes a massive difference. HTH.
Cheers, Ken.

There has been a load of reports on different fuels providing performance advantages and on the Yota powered car their is a knock sensor so it could be worth it. Big gains will only be had on cars with FI eg Scubies have seen 20hp gain on a super!
To really make the most of it you would need a more agressive map.
Def worth it for track work though. On my Bemani Exige I had to use Super or i would have had issues as the Map was designed for it.

Petrol.
Fill up when stack says refill.
Anywhere that sells it, if there is a choice then the cheapest.

I am a BP Ultimate convert. Primarily for the Nectar points, but they themselves make the car feel like a 2.0 when it's just a 1.8 ;-)

Tescos 99 is by far the best gives extra power and works great in my aeroplane too! Its a minimum of 99 octane infact is usually 101 octane puts it up with 100LL Avgas without the lead! Trying to find the link to a test I read about it and the power curves using everything including V-max BP ultimate etc on rolling road! Found it! http://www.thorneymotorsport.co.uk/tuni ... ults.shtml

Was told by salesman at Glasgow MMC who sold me the car that normal unleaded was fine, but someone on here told me about the knock sensor stuff in the Toyota engine and so switched to Shell V-Power. Not really sure how much of a different it makes, but I'm definitely a petrol snob and never used supermarket petrol unless forced to due to location or whatever. The v-power petrol is also meant to have all that cleaning stuff in it that's supposed to be good for the engine, so that's another bonus of using it I guess.

Plus, I'm building up points with my shell pluspoints card! :D

yota engine is mapped to 98 ron - Nick Adams, 111R development leader.

the knock sensor allows it to run fine on normal unleaded.
id never used supermarket fuel - its inconsistant at best.
i used shell optimax - ran without any problems.
if i remember correctly, the shell stuff worked best with scoobies - less knock compared to bp ultimate.

so shell optimax for best performance, cleaning, lubrication and mpg.

:)

Bollocks to the supermarché snobbery, chaps - I fill both beasts in the cheapo places, never had any trub :wink:

RS6 = 95 or 98 RON,
Snot = 97+RON :D
