hmmmm- test drives

After buying my elise in dec 06 there have been many problems/niggles with my wee car, the latest of which was it getting vandalised......etched hardtop and clam.....bugger.
The quotes for the repair range from £300-£3k (see thread in technical).
Anyway, my thoughts were - maybe its just not meant to be, maybe I should try something else......
Next day I arranged some test drives in the new Civic Type R (absolutely cack, too quiet, too soft, feels sluggish - figures say otherwise), S2000 (bit better but not much, not even close to an elise and too expensive for what you get)........
After those 2 I was a bit down....are all the current cars cack?
At that point I looked up and saw an Integera Type R x plate......the salesman said to me you might prefer that if you like noisey, frantic cars.......I WAS THINKING THE EXACT SAME.....
What a car.....still not in elise standard but the next best thing......and more useable for every day purposes.....but still awesome!
The conclusion, getting the elise fixed and save up and buy an integra as a "shed"...... or even the old civic type R.
This is a warning....we have all now been spoiled by the lotus experiece and all new cars are cack/soft.
THE END

I drove past hyndland honda (the one next to the expressway) and saw a black Integra type R on their forecourt for sale, if you are looking.
There was a thread on here last week about them which might help you!

I think if I went off the Lotus I would want a Mitsubishi Evo.
Infact I have already been through the last few editions of Autotrader and Top Marques drawing circles round the Evo VI Tommy Makinen editions and usually that ends up with a test drive

ITR is a great choice (I'm biased!), would have another in an instant. 8.5K sounds a bit overpriced though, I sold mine (which was one of the last made) last year for under 7K (private sale admittedly).
Isn't Dean (deano15482) looking to sell his black Teg at the moment?
My old car

I thought it was pricey too, even if it was mint.
Sadly finances dictate that I will not be buying it....aiming for 111R and shed by end of year....
Possibly be bankrupt too!

Can't agree more with you about the Evo as they suit Elise ownership down to the ground.
Just had my Evo dyno'd at the MLR event at the weekend and found it was kicking out 385bhp at the flywheel and 300bhp at the wheels (Evo VIII FQ-330), no wonder the 111R was feeling slow in the overtaking opportunities

Think Mitsubishi got the abbreviation FQ about right
You can pick up an early Evo for pretty reasonable money now but obviously the maintenance required will be pretty expensive. The VI TME does not depreciate much easier so you will always get your money back.
Cheers
