Took the hardtop off to give me more room to give the interior of the car a good clean (yes, yes i know) on Sat and decided to don silly hat and gloves and go for a blast.

All it took was about 5 miles and all bad thoughts about iced up windscreens, frozen door lock and crap dealers was forgotten. The zuast note was bouncing off walls and tunnels and i just had a great time..........got home 4 hours after I'd set off.

i did get a few strange looks from the fashion convertable crowd though.

Quite why i ever considered selling it defeats me :D

Just thought I'd share that, as it's much better than writing SQL

Ditto.

There is a lass here who drives a Chelsea-tractor-merc-thing who's windscreen has been stoved in by a big lump of salt by the looks of things!

Beware!

T'was really slippy yeah but it was just nice to get the roof off and just burble about. Even the M8 was almost pleasurable.

Gaylords.... Get out and drive - the throttle isn't a switch! If it's not pishing down with rain or snowing, then you have no excuse.

I was autotesting on Saturday and then had a quick blast afterwards - it's amazing how hooning round sideways all day gives you the encouragement to drive more. If you're not confident of the car in the wet - get out in the wet and get over it. It's really not rocket science...

Rich,

I'm taking the michael, but you really do have no excuse - you've got excellent wet-weather tyres. 8)

The more you drive it, the less intimidating it becomes. Also - if Dom organises an autotest test day (which he's talking about) then it would be the perfect way to get some confidence. You wouldn't even need your own car - he's offered use of the autotest Beemer Beast.

I'll post up the minute anything comes off...

Are you re-thinking your choice of "all year round" car Gareth ?

Joking aside on the Vx site we lost two cars last week, one on A048s and one on 888s. In both cases (tho i've not met them) they were meant to be fairly handy wheelmen and neither were inexperienced with VXs

Although the guy on A048s does / did have a heavily modded VXR kicking out 250 bhp ish but still makes you think.

Not rethinking my choice, can't wait till summer.
Remember Scotty last year pranged the 340R on 48's....

I haven't been out for a decent run for a while either. I'm not against driving in the rain, I just find I don't really enjoy it much on the road. I loved the wet track days though and they're great for letting you play with the car.

I'm also finding it difficult to know how much grip the Advans have as I've not driven on them in the dry at all :(
