Skybox Help

Woke up this morning and found the sky box dead, changed the fuse in the plug, still nothing.
So opened it up and noticed a time delay(?) fuse with the part number T2AH 250V, put a fluke across it, open circuit. But can I source one in ABZ. Tried Maplin, nothing, also Grampian Electronics, again nothing, well they gave me T2AL 250V and it just blew as soon as I but power to it. I phoned RS Components but their trade only.
Anybody know where I might get one?
I suppose it's a good excuse to upgrade to Sky +.

No idea, and not wanting to open up my skybox to check (and it may not be the same box anyway, ie Pace/Amstrad), but is the fuse of the enclosed type... or is it possible to buy some fuse wire and mend it?
You could upgrade to Sky+ obviously... or you could chance your arm with Sky to try and get a replacement reconditioned box for free by saying you are going to cancel coz your box is screwed. Or you could buy a 2nd hand box from fleabay.
I've just cancelled my Sky+ subscription coz it keeps part recording stuff... the signal is getting worse on ch4 & also now ch5... which screws up recordings. Seems a common complaint and I'm not paying for that crap anymore.
Andy.

I would kick it back to Sky and ask them what to do next after all you'll be paying at least £180 a year, what's a digi box to them

I have an account with RS, so could get one if you want, but my first choice would be to get in contact with Sky, as others have said.

Agree with previous posts SKY will try to charge you £80 to come to the house to check it/replace it.
If you tell them to take it out instead you'll usually get the call out charge dropped.
As far as i can see t2ah and al are the same - slow blow fuse 2a fuse.

Well phoned the Sky support, they were a lot of help

. £65 for the engineer to come out and change the box for a recon unit. A guy at work has had about 8 recon boxes in the last 10 months, so decided Sky+ is a safer bet, hopefully!!!
Rich, yeah that was the first thing I tried to find out, why it blew? But couldn't find anything burnt out or breaking up, so just thought it could be a power surge or similar, hence trying to find the right fuse and see what happens.
Oh well Sky+ next Tuesday

Hope you have better luck with your Sky+ than me... or have more patience.
At least you've got it in hand anyway.
