Toyo T1-R- first impressions

Well that's me finally got rid of the bald AO48's and replaced them with Toyo T1-R's... and they're not bad. Scrubbed them up a bit after doing 100 miles or so and to be honest around town I haven't noticed any difference. Tried to get the back end out on a couple of roundabouts but the car feels as sticky as it always did.
I guess the acid test will be at SIDC Knockers on the 26th. I'll be the one spinning off everywhere... unless it's raining!

Im the same, just went from 48s and I really like the softness of the ride with the toyos. Granted theyll be no use on a dry track but excellent for road use. Just wondering if im getting a little soft, just the other day i was consideiring carpets and possibly a stereo. Havent had the roof off for almost a week now!

Personally think they're a bit pish and wouldn't spend my money on them again. The S2 Advans are far superior unless it's chucking with rain and I wouldn't compare them to 48s because they're a completely different kind of tyre. Saying that I'd rather be on 48s.

Perhaps, but as I average 2-2.5k miles a month the cost of running it on AO48's was eye watering simply because they wore down so quickly. Wasn't aware of S2 Advans, what are they?

Yokohama AD07s as fitted to the newer Elises. Had them on my road wheels since 2005 and I prefer them to the OEM Bridgestones. They're around £395 + fitting from MMC with the SE discount.

But they're not available in S2 Exige sizes are they? That's the trouble, the only option as far as I see it for S2 Exige all weather tyre are T1-R's

A039s are a much better bet than Toyos and they are not even that much cheaper. I had T1-Rs on my S1 Elise and 48s then 39s on the Exige and they were much better. Some people on exiges.com run goodyear eagle F1s and also Bridgestones.

Ah, I was looking at the avatar assuming you'd gotten another Elise.
Toyo R888s are available in Exige sizes and are probably what i'll be getting next. Feedback on them seems to be pretty good so they'd probably be better than T1-Rs.

No doubt the R888's are spectacularly grippy and very similar to the AO48's but no good to me cos they just don't last long enough. I would literally be shelling out for new rears every 6-7 weeks. I'm not saying the T1-R's are the best out there, I just meant for the price they seem perfectly adequate for my use which is mostly road with a couple of track days a year.
However, I've only done 100 miles so it was first impressions only and I may change my mind...
Need to change the avatar too

ive got them (T1Rs) on my S1 and I find them fine after having the advans previously.
I bought them to get me through the winter weather, but have driven in them when its bone dry on the road and they feel fine.
Ive not tracked with them, but done a walshy day and they performed well.
They did feel a bit square-cut when new but I find them ideal now.

Robin said his R888s lasted over 6k including a few track days at the ring and spa. Seeing as I can't get a set of road tyres to last much more than 7k I'd have thought they'd be ideal. A bit academic now cos you already have the T1-Rs but maybe worth considering next time.

I got 18k out of a set of Bridgestone REO40's rears on my old S2 Elise! Albiet it was getting a bit hairy toward the end of their life...
