SD Memory Cards

How do you know which one to opt for
My wife bought me a Oregon ATC2K camera for my birthday, which I'm looking forward to playing with, but she didn't get me a memory card to go with it. I plan to pick up a couple of 2Gb SD cards which should give me 2hrs viewing time.
However, when searching the net for places to buy said cards, the choice is massive and it's not clear why some 2Gb cards are £10 and other apparently similar cards are £50. What should I be looking for in an SD card for a vidoe camera? For example, is £21 a good price for a SanDisk Extreme III card?
Sorry for all the questions, but I'm totally clueless when it comes to this sort of thing

Speed of read / write for the application, I bought a "fast" 2GB for my Nokia as read slow cheap Sd cards made tomtom drag.

If you plan on using it as a video recorder then you need to work out what the data transfer rate is. TBH, even the quickest MP4 video bit rate is likely to be no problem for the slowest modern 2GB card.
Just make sure that if your device is SD (largest legal capacity 2GB, largest non-standard capacity 4GB) you don't buy SD HC (smallest capacity 2GB, largest capacity more like 4TB) and vice-versa.

True... have used them a couple of times.... but they don't get the best reviews on the web....
I won't be using them again either after the last encounter I had with them...

i just bought myself a 2gb Lexar Professional 133x speed from ebay for £23.90 including postage. you can find some bargins on ebay sometimes

The camera on its highest quality setting is 640x480 pixels (VGA) at 30 frames per second (not sure if that's the sort of info you were looking for?). It also says in the manual that the recommended card is a SanDisk Ultra II SD card. Given that's the case, is there any benefit in going for the Extreme III card overs the Ultra II? I realise that the Extreme has a quicker read/write speed, but will i notice any difference?

I'm pretty sure I can get 40% off any carphonewarehouse stuff, they sell the sandisk cards. dunno if these are any good.
