And off we go again.

Saturday 16th is just Qualifying late morning.

Sunday 17th is the two races.

It's 350 miles Edinburgh to Silverstone - i.e about 5 hours in the Elises and 6.5 hours in the bus ;-)

It's the national circuit: http://www.silverstone.co.uk/pdf/National_Circuit.pdf

It doesn't look that tricky and I think the circuit is flat - are you guys going to test? The day before, Fri 15th, is a testing day, 210 quid for the whole day (not clear whether or not it's sessions - I guess it might be).

Cheers,
Robin

I am lucky to get out the office at the weekend let alone during the week!
I am going to Gold Track evening session on the 5th but its the GP track so at least I will be able to learn the 1st corner

I may well have my Dad's house with 4 or 5 beds to spare about 40 mins from Silverstone - will confirm on that though so dont book a hotel just yet.

I think Andy was going to learn the track in qually

It's more erm fun/challenging/entertaining/scary - delete as appropriate :) to test in qualifying.

The circuit it totally flat. Not sure I am going to test or not, might do the same as what I did for Oulton - read the circuit guide a few times. I've driven Silverstone GP twice before.

i had to learn snetterton in qually, and i wouldnt reccomend it if you want to do your best. Its do-able, but it puts you on the back foot right away

Yep, Neil is spot on there. I improved 4 seconds a lap from my qualifying time to race time. I'm still 5 seconds off the pace of the front of Class A in my car. Until I get a RR with this replacement engine, I can't take any weight out, not sure where I could any way, so I'll never be competitive in the current form. Only way is to upgrade the engine to the 170 mark.

I'm in it to have fun and a different experience from track days, not to win it. That involves testing, testing, testing - practise makes perfect :)

Robin,

I don't have the kids that weekend so if there's anything I can do to help let me know.

Cheers
Kelvin.

I'll need to see how work is, as i'd like to test, but can only take so many days, especially with TT just the week before.

Fingers crossed though.

Excellent - I'm sure we'll rope you in - I have provisional clearance from mission control. Was good to see you and Ben ("hasn't he grown") at the weekend - lost track of everyone at the end - I needed to go to the loo and wash my hands and I was exhausted - still got home around 11:30 I think, so not too bad ...

Will work out plan once I know what the drivers are up to ...

Cheers,
Robin

Looking at the circuit for Silverstone, i think I'm more likely to just learn it in TOCA and qualifying. Doesn't look like there are many corners and its flat, and compared to Oulton, looks a lot simpler.

Down there all weekend for this one also, and if qualifying doesn't go that well i might get a better place for the handicap race

Also some of the boys have done this circuit a fair bit, so i may just try and tuck in behind them for the first few laps

Andy/Neil - I found a Goldtrack evening session on Monday 11th on the National Circuit. Myself and Paul Harding are probably going to do it.

If either of you want to come down on the Sunday and crash at mine, your more than welcome. I am just over an hour south of Silverstone. I'll be working from home in the morning ;)

Cheers

Graham
