Big van needed

Hi,

I am looking to rent or borrow a big van for a weekend trip early in June as I have some stuff to move about the place.

I am not sure that I am properly insured to drive such a thing if borrowed, so I might prefer to rent one, or pay the premium to be put on whoever's insurance?

I don't have exact dimensions of the stuff I am collecting, but it includes quite a lot of workshop furniture - hence I don't think it will fit in the back of the Previa (I am not sure it will fit in the garage with all the cruft that's in there at present!).

Cheers,
Robin

Would it not be possible to tie it in with the trip for Silverstone in Mid June and I`ll take my van down?

You should be covered 3rd party to drive any other insured vehicle by your own insurance. This is what we use to drive each others cars on the road.

Is this not the same case, ie if you damage it you pay for it, but you have legal cover?

Check you policy, my £630 fully comp Elise policy does not allow it but the £200 3rd party fire and theft classic insurance on the Pig does... Strange...

Tut - lots of policies have started to exclude this cover over recent years and now I only have two in my name I have a suspicion that neither provides that cover.
