Holiday weekend

Post by MRpunchinella » Tue May 29, 2007 3:28 pm

Hope everyone had a really great weekend, thought that we would take the wee car up to Rannoch for a spin as I am walking there next weekend. Roads around Loch Rannoch were superb and we had fantastic weather, so much so, decided to try and find somewhere to stop overnight so we could have a lazy drive back through Killin, Crainlarach etc. We were blessed with fantastic weather and missed the horrible forecast that dampened our spirits on Thursday evening as we planned the weekend. Just a shout to Talladh-A-Bheithe Lodge, on the banks of Loch rannoch. Run by Hans Ludwig and his family, a true warm welcome is guaranteed :D sorry, pics are from phone :?

However - I would avoid the MacDonalds Hotel (no Golden Arches) along from the B&B.......two medium sandwiches, two packets crisps and 3 glasses of wine (thanks sarah !!!) - £45  rip off and duly told them so.

no need to book (generally)

Very reasonable, very old (1840) building with 'quaint' mis matched antique furniture but excellent breakfast and home cooking. Room was big and clean but whole place looked like something from a Christie novel. We expected to be murdered in our sleep

great driving guranteed and somewhere different to stay over.

Oh, the water at Killin was flowing well too.

cheers,

Used to be one of my old man's clients when i was a young un - only reason i remember is that he used to bring his accounts to the house for osme bizarre reason, and i could never pronounce his name!!!

Looks cool, and from memory it is a way that they upkeep the place with a few visitors every month!

Mr Punch

The place is well known in our household as 'The German Cake Place' - great for afternoon tea, but a bit of a bugger with the midgies.

Did you try the road on the south side of the loch and the road over to Aberfeldy ?

we turned out of the 'cake place' and headed back the way we came from then went towards Killin etc. The roads were fantastic and very quiet. Will be back so will gt to the south side. :thumbsup
