I am looking for a lawyer to raise a court action on my behalf to evict a problem tenant from a flat I own in Edinburgh. I was wondering if anyone here might be able to recommend someone.
Thanks,
Mark

Tut has the right idea; people I know through my business furnishing rental property tend to favour the use of "scary looking guys" to getting eviction / court orders - cheaper, quicker, and more effective.

I have a couple of contacts through my mother who is a lawyer - one in Edi and one i passed to Stu Pollock, let me know if you need one!
Perhaps Greg will also be able to help.
Cheers,
Dave

Thanks Dave. I have sent you a PM. Much as I would like to take up JJs suggestion, getting all heavy with a tenant can lead to the landlord ending up in court, so I do need to do things by the book. Court action is also likely to be more successful in recovering rent arrears.

Whilst I wouldnt condone such action, having been the "winner" of a court case when I was fraudulently conned by a "dodgy developer" and subsequently experienced the complete and total innefectual Scottish legal system.
Therefore I would have to conclude that "Scary bloke persuation" must be cheaper, more appropriate and I would imagine MUCH more effective.
Scottish legal sysyem, bailiffs and such like are a waste of time and money IMHO and experience.
...and Im still owed nearly a grand £ by a thiefing scumbag who knew exactly how to roll up a company and avoid massive debts.

Was once owed 2k and this was the advice from my middle aged female lawyer in answer to the question of what I should do to get my money back...

"I mean I know I shouldn't say this but, well, do you not now anyone who could go and rough him up a bit?
It's just sometimes that's the only way..."
Needless to say, actually not needless to say as you don't know me at all, I didn't and ended up just righting off the debt. Friends with rented property do adopt the direct approach though and so far have suffered no repurcussions.

We too sometimes have this problem, our solution is to cut off the gas, electric etc, and make it as difficult as poss to live there. If this doesn't help i don't know, we simply take the caravan away with him still in it! See them jump as its half way up the lorry.

Mate of my dads had some gypsies turn up on his field. He owned a plant hire firm so he got his lads out one night and dug a moat around them leaving a causway. He told them if they weren't gone by morning he'd finish the moat....

Spoke to Greg this morning and he is looking into it for me - top man!
I never cease to be amazed by friendliness and helpfulness of the Scottish Elises community
