Someone Bumped My Car

Car was parked in Central Edinburgh today whilst viewing some potential new flats and when I returned there was a rather nasty scrape on the drivers side of the front bumper
Fortunately the guy that did it has accepted responsibility, left his name and number and appreciates that the repair will probably be expensive.

The scratches look sufficiently deep that at least the front bumper will need polished down and resprayed, but I don't think it will require a full clam re-spray (but I might be wrong).
I now have two questions. Firstly what bodyshops would people recommend in the Edinburgh area that will do a good job of dealing with my wee plastic car? And, if the guy wants to fix it through his insurance company, am I correct that I also have to inform my insurance company of what is happening? I realise that there may be some problems with his insurance company accepting my choice repairer, so I might need to get 2 or 3 quotes to keep them happy (again any recommendations would be much appreciated).
Thanks very much in advance.
John

Mate,
Gutted for you, but it shows there are some good honest people left in this world!!
You'll be without it for a few weeks imagine, but at least it wont be your pocket that is hurt or your NCB!

Bad luck, at least he left his details. Steve Walker bodyshop is probably your best bet! Good luck, cheers Ed

Just called Steve Walker and I'll be popping in on Friday for an estimate. Also called the JM Group bodyshop (Belmont Vauxhall's choice repairer) for a second quote and they wanted to charge me for an estimate (which would be refunded if i chose them as my repairer)

Talk about daylight robbery!!
So, that leaves me looking for 2 other body shops to get quotes from (that I don't actually plan to use). Any ideas where I should try
And, is there any rule about having to tell my insurance company within a certain period of time about the accident? The other guy has not yet contacted his insurance company as he wants to wait and see what the repair is likely to cost first.

Had Eastern Western Motor Group (Bathgate) recommended by a friend with a TVR as a 3rd repairer to try. Anyone here had any good/bad experiences with them

Do you mean Broxburn?
I had a quote from them for light cosmetic work and roof rack bits for my Jeep

£1300 +vat.
Other quotes were for less than half that.

Yup, that's the Bathgate I meant!
The guy that recommended it mentioned that it would most likely be expensive, but it might help to put the other 2 quotes into perspective (i.e. that they will actually be quite reasonable)
Suppose it would do no harm to get a quote from them when I'm out West Lothian way on Friday.

May not be an issue with Eastern Westerm Motor Group but when I went in to get on a repair for the Evo (mountiain bikes dissapeared off roof rack) it took them about 1.5-2 weeks to get the quote out to me (said it would take a couple of days).
May not be ideal if you are looking for a quick turn around of quotes. They may have responded quicker if I hassled them but bear that in mind when you see them.
Cheers
