My body is up for sale to the highest bidder... here begins a period of uncertanty and much gnashing of teeth. Shell is selling me down the river and my servicies will no longer be required.
Shell U.K. Limited (Shell) today announced that the company, along with Esso Exploration and Production UK Limited, an ExxonMobil subsidiary, intends to market their equity interests in a number of Northern North Sea assets, which include operated interests in Cormorant Alpha, Cormorant North, Tern, Eider, Kestrel and Pelican and non-operated interests in Otter and Hudson, as well as an operated interest in the associated oil evacuation system. Interests will include acreage, production licences and associated infrastructure in Quadrants 210 and 211. The assets will be offered to the market on an open, competitive basis.

John, not good news for you, but is there not a distinct possibility of you getting a healthy pay off by shell, as well as being taken on by the new owners/operator? Shell selling is better than decommissioning them, isn't it?
Still that probably doesn't help you at the moment.

Don't you just hate large corporates that is what happened to me as ScottishPower just sold us off 15 years of services counted for nothing and Tup'd us to the other company so no pay offs - lost my company car and annual bonus as part of the move.
I hope they give you lots of money mate - good luck.

No pay off. Something called TUPE agreement means we change over to the new buyer for 1 year then its up to them what happens. Still plenty time to go job hunting if things dont work out...
Still a bit sh*t though.

John, what exactly is it you do for Shell? My company does a lot of work in the Oil & Gas industry and while we're an IT company, we do employ industry consultants who are not IT people, but have lots of expertise on the industry in general. I could ask around if we're after someone like that at the moment. Drop me a PM.

You must have a pretty impressive CV. TUPE is totally crap I agree. I would have thought that you could get another job with all those talents though

A bummer John, but dont forget as an Elise owner, you always have a head start.
Wish I had a tenner for every time that I have landed on those Platforms, or indeed for the hours spent in the canteens, gyms, cinemas, saunas, or watching blue movies.
Even got my end away a few times, especially in the Norwegian sector, once they bought the birds on board.
