Just a guess, but maybe Lotus Lee's?

Price wise, i would say a little over priced, and suprised they decided to hold onto it and not punt it to Graeme at MMC, perhaps as they thought they could make a turn on it! The only reason we used to keep decent PX cars at Merc!

Good news is that if this is the case then the owner is on here, having just bought a scoob, basic spec for exige, low mileage though...

Just my 2p!

P.S - Haggle hard, very hard with the boys at Nobles

P.P.S - I am sure others will reitterate this but get yourself some driver training or a Walshy day, coming from an MG, you may well get a suprise, esp with the Yokos on it!!

Cheers,

Dave

well maybe i'm just not very good at haggling but i mentioned to him that if he gave me it for 24k we had a deal ...wouldnt budge one bit !

what you guys think on the value of this car ? only thing that maybe brings the value down is lack of aircon >?

PS. lotus lee drop us an e-mail if you dont mind m8 , looking for some history on the car , must say m8 you have kept it spanking!

Tell him he doesn't have a deal then, leave your phone number in case he changes his mind and walk out the showroom....

bet you get a phonecall the same day with some guff like... " i have managed to convince my manager to let me do it for £24 as long as you put down a deposit today!"

All part of the game. I did exactly the above when buying a car with Ryann last year. Got my phonecall back at 4pm agreeing to the price they had refused to sell it to me at 6 hours earlier!

Remember....there will always be another car somewhere and the garage needs to sell it more than you need to buy it!

Cheers,

Dave.

Personally though.... I would start my offer to the garage at £23.5 at the most if you want to end up getting it for £24.

One thing I know is that all car salesmen are barstewards.... (except Graeme of course  ) .... make 'em work for their money!

Louise bought a new car recently, and came out with a great line; " if the price is right I'll do the deal right now, but if it's too high, I'm in no hurry to change my current car". :thumbsup

Does Graeme have your number?
Make sure he has, cos he's probably trying to dial right now :)

Nobles probably have asked MMC to under right the car anyway and will not be in any great hurry to move it at this time of year, it's probably bringing in lots of interest to Penicuik. No AC is a huge bargaining point this month tho' and as stated above you need to offer much less to do a deal. My guess is the the sales man thinks he has you hooked.

Anyway, enjoy which ever one you buy, even at full asking you'll love that car to bits ;)

I think thats a pretty good price! Check the tyres, brake pads etc etc to make sure there is plenty of meat in the them. If the rears have not been changed already then they prob will at some point soon. Also as above pretend to walk away! HTH and good luck! :thumbsup

It may well be... but the garage won't exactly have stuck it on the forecourt with the smallest margin they are happy to make added on...

:P

Be carful about falling in love with the first one you drive. If you're coming from a background of lower powered cars, its easr to get the blinkers on and think that's the 'only' car for you. If you value your money, you'll do well to drive another.

Looks like a very basic spec exige. No performance or touring pack. Performance pack is a hugely desirable upgrade, as is A/C. Without that, you'll die on a hot summer's day .. not really the reason you shelled out 24 large for your sports car.

Quote from Suzy's colleague to a car salesman:

"Thing is mate I don't have to buy a car. You do have [/] to sell cars."

AC adds value but I could prob live without it. Only time I had AC on during TT was to cool my juice down which was jammed in the passenger footwell. Rest of the time I had the windaes open (part of me still misses that open top Liz feel  )
