Drove an R

Well I got "pestered" into taking a 05 111R for a spin. I reluctantly agreed :) Here are my thoughts coming from a Rover S2.

Very nice car. Felt more solid, better built, better ride, quieter, smoother engine, also felt more planted (or the confidence could have come from the fact it wasn't my pride and joy I would be putting in the hedge :) ) and of course more power than my S2.

Things I didn't like were: the brake pedal feel, took some getting used to coming out of an unassisted car anyway, but when I got back into my car the brake pedal felt like I was trying to squeeze a brick with my foot so I guess this is just something you'd get used to but I didn't even attempt any heel and toe action. The cam switch although great fun, worried me a little if it were to come on mid corner and give that turbo kick into the field.

Thumbs up though, I'd definately upgrade if the price was right.

I also was surprised by the brakes. Takes a bit of getting used to but when you do they are excellent. Vast amounts more stopping power. There is a mod that lotus can do to make it better.

I still smile every time the cam switches! Its awesome!!

Drove the R when it first came out.

Nice car but not different enough to make me swap my K for it.

Whether or not it's different enough to swap a standard K is a different matter. Saying that it would be cheaper sticking a PTP kit on a K than losing a lot for an R

Cheers

The main reason it feels more solid is it's a lot heavier and has loads of sound deadening in it. Shut the door on a 111R then do it in your own car and you'll notice the difference.
