apparently it is still profitable they just over stretched things, it sounds to me like a delibirate ploy to take over by chocking the cash flow, It will be interesting to see who "saves" them.

doubt it - that whole sector is struggling atm, HMV suffered too by not getting involved in the online side of things early enough

Shoomer, if you buy the store on Byres Road in Glasgow, I would most definitely be frequenting your coffee establishment!

I wouldn't come in for coffee, as I don't drink it, but if you kept it as a Fopp, I'd buy records from it, as I've been shopping there for 15 years, and being a non-computer, downloady sort, I'm now sad. Sniff.

Guy i work with is in his 50ies grew up in Partick and has been shopping there since it opened until about 6 months when he discoveded the internet & limewire

Spending time in Fopp on Byres Road was always better than lectures

Must be getting old!!!
In my day it was Listen Records that we hung about in instead of going to lectures!
Also had one of the first Asteroids machines.

Argh no - surely someone has to buy the Fopp part. I can't imagine never being Fopped again - I was horrendous with that place, never once came out of any Fopp without having bought at least two things....
