scottish weekend break recommendations ?

Was thinking about a wee blast in the car up north some weekend. Can anyone recommend anywhere ?

mcdonald highland resort, Aviemore, cairngorms are handy along with inverness

Stayed at The Mcdonald highland resort, Aviemore last year and wasn't impressed at all. Looks a bit tired and run down in places and the staff attitude stinks!

North West.
Applecross,Torridon, Ullapool, Durness. Best roads, best scenery. No brainer.

Have to agree

but maybe I was just unlucky. Kenny's suggestion sounds good, some great roads.

my girlfriend and I went there a few weeks ago, very nice, surprisingly cheap and of course, fantastic roads

It depends which hotel you stay in, they are all various 'old' hotels which have been re-furbished to varying degrees. The Highlands is probarbly the best..
Can't say I've ever noticed the staff to be anything other than friendly and helpfull.

Im just back from a weekend at the Plockton Hotel which is excellent - its the second time ive been and would definatley go back.
The roads around there are quality too - unfortunaltey I was in a VW Golf

I've stayed in the two Hotels below, both really good, if you use these ones you can have a great drive around lots of the best bits of Scotland.

consider this a second recomendation....
we had New Year there once. Fabulous. Food was amazing, roads nearby are quality. Treated like family and made to feel really welcome.

I agree was ready to post something similar, although I did visit it some time ago.
