If it's meant to say Stew, then a 5 would be better than a 2.

Your car, do what you want.... if you decide not to then change your mind later it will be gone and you will kick yourself about it for ever...
missed out on JRE 1 D for £1200...... how hacked off do you think I am now.

Since you asked

.....
I am not a big fan of plates where you have to severely alter the spacing and squint your eyes to try and make out what they are supposed to spell.
Even worse if you pay quite a few quid for one only to be told by the local law enforcement officer to rectify the spacing resulting in a very ordinary "private" plate.

P.S.
No I don't what to put you off before going on to buy it myself

A few weeks ago I got presented with a wee slip from the constabulary for my new style personalised plate having no space between the 03 and the last three letters. I think it was the "young guy in the flashy car" phenomenon. Its a good plate and the officer opened with "I take it your name's Thomson?". Was in Falkirk at the time (first thursday of the month is 'crooz nite') and I pointed out the endless convoys of vauxhall corsa's with motorbike plates and hieroglyphic (sp?) letters on. Interestingly enough, the officer asked if I felt discriminated against and by way of public relations asked how long I'd had the car and how I found it , wasn't it a bit 'bumpy' etc. I said it was fine. Ironically the little slip they give you has boxes for the 'driver's registration' and theres no spaces between the letters at all!
On a previous occasion an officer told me that without that space on the plate their 'camera thingy' in the back of the car (checks if you're taxed, MOT'd etc) cant read it. I asked if that meant Id get away with speeding past motorway O/H cameras. No reply.

Stew,
E 2 TEW jumped out at me as "Stew" right away.
I don't think the spacing needs to alter.
The big thing is, that people who know you and get to know your plate, will spot it even more easily than usual. Which presumably, is the point!
The mind does clever things when it sees words that it thinks it knows but which aren't perfectly formed....check this out if you haven't already seen it:
"Aoccdrnig to rseerach at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a total mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. Amzanig huh?"

Plates are a waste of time and money. I've spent more money on transferring plates and changing reg doc not to mention the £15 fee insurance companies charge to change the docs.

They wont charge it if you query it. I have got away with not paying the £15 3 times now.
People who change cars as often as us need to save money where possible

Speaking of which... Any progress yet with regards getting your old plate transferred? Haven't seen anything in the post...

Lisa and I have had our own plates for a total of nearly 13 years between us. We have never paid a penny on tranfers, reg doc changes or insurance company admin fees.
Just depends how often you want/need to change your car I guess.
