111r question

As most of you know I have a 111r while the silver shed is in for repairs, a couple of questions for 111r owners:
How do you cope with the brakes? The pedal travel is massive!!
Do you find its slow to pick up the revs from 1k or so? I've been trying to blip the throttle during down shifts but it seems slow to react? I know the silver shed has a Light weight fly but I wasn't expecting it to be that different.
Still need to test the 2nd cam properly....

Get it on that 2nd cam
The pedals I found were crap but adjustable

Massive improvement once adjusted.
Drove one of the Silverstone Exiges when i did my ARDS and the DBW made for a big improvement over the non DBW cars

Is it drive by wire?
I've only driven 1 car that was drive by wire (my fiesta)... and I've noticed that the throttle inputs when trying to 'blip' on downshift are a bit hit or miss. If I stab at the throttle too quickly, then it doesn't seem to always recognise the input (revs stay where they were)... hoping this is not a general drive by wire characteristic coz everything seems to be going that way.

I'm learning slowly, the throttle is a bit stiff so blipping needs to be more positive. I don't think its throttle by electric, but it could be...

Sounds like you might have a DBW car. Not sure if I preferred the DBW or non DBW car, the non DBW cars were a bit annoying when you blipped the throttle the revs would drop quickly to almost stall then go back up to tickover. The DBW cars sorted this but when you blipped/ changed gear the revs dropped very slowly in steps.

Don't blip the throttle on downshifts ... there is no point ... at cruise speeds (i.e. sub 2nd cam) the engine has naff all engine braking anyway, so you can just feather in the clutch, job done.
If you're on a mission then by all means heal and toe, but then do it right - i.e. full force on the brake pedal (it's got ABS ...) and a good and sustained throttle input - you're looking for 7,000 RPM or so on a proper downshift
Cheers,
Robin

Drive By Wire

drive by wire, as opposed to a cable operated throttle. Some debate over the responsiveness of cable -v- DBW
