First couple of days of ownership

Taking it very, very easy.
Haven't really managed to do much during daylight so far.
I was so tentative driving to work this morning - M8, rain, trucks, but I'm sure the confidence will build over time.
First time I've driven in normal shoes (i.e. not trainers), which led to an interesting moment going for the brake and hit the right pedal instead. At least the seat wiped clean easily!

You'll soon get the hang of it. The key is to operate the clutch with the ball of your left foot thus giving room for wide shoes on the brake.
I've ruined some nice leather soled brouges by heel n' toeing.
Speedcats as Si says but I use either Adidas Samba or Sparco race boots...
Cheers,
Ali

Thanks, I'll look into those Pumas, though hoping not to have to swap shoes around before getting into the office.
Enjoying the driving, but really looking forward to doing the commute in the sun - with roof off obviously.
Think driver training going to be first on my list to give me some confidence and know how the car is going to handle when I get it wrong!

Mr Spook
Get lots of miles in on quiet roads, this will get you used to the car and build you confidence, don't push too hard, just enjoy.
The driver training is very useful.
Have fun, and don't be alarmed at how quickly the mileometer goes up, the Elise is designed to be driven.

Wow a west-coaster !
Welcome, you are right to take it easy but your confidence will be up in no time.
Look out for a noisy blue VX on your travels in Glasgow

Definitely looking forward to the weekend when I can hopefully get out and get some miles in - fingers crossed for good weather.
Lazydonkey - I'll keep my eyes peeled. And my ears!

you'll hear him coming - i think he has a highly modified corsa prior to getting the VX, it sounds like maxpower drive out when he's out in that thing!

on the shoes front - I recommend Adidas tuscanys. Nice big rubber bit up the rear of the heel so it isn't trolleyed too quickly

B*stard - and i gave you a free sticker too
........I had a totally unmodded Mx5 before my VX as well you know
Seems to me this random abuse all stems from "standard car" jealousy anyway

ok sorry
you WANTED a highly modified corsa but your gf wouldn't let you have it!
lol
told my gf about your car and the noise etc etc and she was like " look if i wanted to see someone with a loud car i'd be dating a 19 year old, bloody hell, what age are you?" but she's still getting me the hurricane for my birthday so it's not all bad, i'll just have to "sneak" a larini on later in the year when she's not looking/listening

Mr Spook - you know where Luddon's Yard is in Glasgow? We're having a wee spanner sesh there on Saturday afternoon, so if you're at a loose end, it might be worth popping over and saying hello.

Nice one Mr Spook, as folk have said take it easy its slippy out there.... I was driving up St Vincent street yesterday and had wheelspin in 2nd at 20mph, not ideal conditions at the moment.
