Apologies for not posting up sooner. I was tempted back to MMC for my 18k service a short while ago, after choosing to go elsewhere for the 9k mainly due to relative costs.

The decision to return was due to both the increased VFM on offer at MMC (thanks to DEL and Craig) and the corresponding increase in positive feedback from this forum.

I am pleased to report that I was very pleased with the level of service received.

As well as having the standard service items attended to, Craig also arranged to have the ECU software updated to solve an intermittent throttle problem I'd been experiencing ( only happened 5 or 6 times in two years ).
[For reference for other Toyota engined owners - on start up, the engine revs would "pulse" with no throttle input - if I did use the throttle the revs would die immediately and the car would stall; thankfully if I left the car for approx 15 minutes the problem would always clear (was still embarrassing on one occasion to have to get pushed away from the pumps on the forecourt of one of the busiest filling stations in Dundee). I understand that throttle problems are not uncommon for DBW cars around the same vintage ( MY07), but are normally cured by the ECU update]

In addition, the mechanic carrying out the service checks called me on my mobile to inform me that the front pads were getting low ( hadn’t noticed  ), and to ask whether I wanted them changed ( I did – mechanical numpty   ).

This level of helpful courtesy was shown to me by all the staff I met or spoke with, both front of house and workshop, both before and during my visit.

If the prices remain even reasonably competitive, I will definitely return for the 27k service next year.

Ally.

A late post, given I went for a service a couple of months ago.

Vowed never to use MMC due to previous experience, but given the more positive reports recently (and time constraints) I decided to try again.

Slightly mixed results. I had specifically queried how long the service would take- had to have the car back the same day to make 050709- and was told when booking this wasn't a problem. Turned up to be told it'd be ready " tomorrow evening". Not acceptable, and I made my views known. But mistakes happen, and to give them their dues, the stops were pulled out and I got the car back late the same day. They didn't have time to valet it (throwing some water at it left it looking worse than it had been, lol) but I accept the mix-up was a communication error and not a reflection on the guys on the shop floor, so overall a slightly muted thumbs up...

Like wise.

Needed to get it fixed so thought I'd try MMC again. They told me I could wait (when on the phone) but suggested this wasn't a good idea when i turned up. (What dealer ship isn't enhanced by a tall Englishman sleeping, post nightshift, in the corner?).

They did give me a lift right into town though so I could get the train home.

Work done inside quoted time.

Went to MMC for a service based on the SE discount and some of the positive feedback from here.

No issues to report, handed the car in and returned at the agreed times. Service was good and no issues to report following the service.

Will go back again next year.

I want to echo the praise for Murray, especially Craig and Alan. My car recently had to have the rear clam resprayed, some wheels repaired, the central locking control unit replaced, and the windscreen replaced. Criag really went out of his way to provide a top notch service, and Alan came out to my house to collect the car. When taking it in he noticed that the throttle response was a bit sluggish, upgraded the software and resolved the problem.

I have been very impressed by the service being offered by Murray and wouldn't hesitate to take my car back there. Thanks Craig!

I've merged the "Murray Motors" thread into this one, on request from MMC - makes it easier for them to present the information.

I hadn't realised this was here so had posted my thoughts under a thread of it's own. Admins feel free to remove the other as you see fit...

--I'll explain the issue first then mention why a big thanks goes to Thomas

Four weeks before I went on holiday (in the Lotus), I ordered 2 new Meta keys for my alarm at the beginning of May through someone (who will remain nameless) at the Lotus parts department at MMC and was told it would take 2 weeks to receive them. 3 weeks later I paid and had the keys posted out to me. When I received them they were not only the wrong fit, but weren't even a Meta keys! I won't bore everyone with all the details but countless phonecalls, visits to MMC (I live in Dundee) with promises of "it'll be two weeks", and a second holiday (not in the Lotus) 4 months passed and I had no keys!

At my witts end and about to create hell (which I think I still might) I phoned one last time and got Thomas, I asked for said nameless person and was told he was off on holiday for two weeks and there was nothing left about any keys! I calmly expressed my frustration to Thomas and he said he would look into it and phone me back at lunchtime. True to his word he did, but with the news that there was no record of any keys on order for me! He apologised a lot for the fact I had been messed around but he said he would sort it himself, put through a new order for the keys and would have them within the week. 4 days after my initial conversation with Thomas I received my keys.

So if your looking for parts and want it done quickly and efficiently, start with Thomas from MMC parts department.

Graeme

Just put Elise into Murray for shocks all round. I would say it was a reasonable price (SE discount :thumbsup ) and the car was looking immaculate afterwards.

Customer experience was very positive - had excellent service from Fraser and good communication throughout. This is the first time I have been back after a very poor experience a couple of years ago - will be back again (maybe not for everything though!).

Does indeed seem that there has been a big improvement since Craig arrived.

Good service recently although I didn't see any staff as the car was dropped off with security at the crack of dawn and picked up late in an evening. Craig kept me up to date by phone/email and worked to get bits needed. Thoroughly checked, picked up a few points and sorted some wee niggles. :thumbsup

Thought I should leave a bit of feedback here following my recent service at MMC... My car is now ?8 years old - I initially had it serviced by MMC, but got fed up with both the service and the price, so when Dan Jude set up I used his services and was broadly happy, apart from the distance (from Edinburgh). When Ali set up SLS, I thought that would be great, but frankly his level of service was not what I wanted, with various jobs forgotten and no communication. SO, when Del announced this new deal from MMC I thought that I would give them another chance. I am pretty happy with the experience generally. My car needed a few items sorted for the MOT, including tyres, and I was a bit disappointed initially at the price for this. I contacted Craig, who explained that as a main dealer they are obliged to use OEM parts, which explains some of the cost, and he also sorted out a somewhat larger quote for the replacement of tyres than was quoted on the offer thread. I would say that while the cost of non service items is still higher than I'd like, on balance I will use MMC in future - mainly thanks to Craig, though!

Sorry this turned into a novel...

Just had my Exige's annual service carried out at Murray Motors by Craig and his team.

One word. Excellent.

Take care,

Top job by Craig and the boys today - have had Elaine through with the 111R getting a service and some boots.

They noticed some issues that were developing (heat shields and the like) and instead of just doing the work and charging without asking (as has happened in the bad old days) they spoke to Elaine to see what her thoughts were before continuing. She's spent a good chunk of the day working away, getting paperwork done, while being fed coffee in the showroom - she even got a wee lift into the Gyle to go shopping.

Not seen the car back, but just had a call from Craig to take me through it as well - top, top service.

All in all a stark contrast to the way MMC used to operate and it's got to be said it's down to Craig. That, and he's managed to implement SE pricing, etc, to make using MMC much less of an expensive decision.

One thing Craig mentioned is that to keep this sort of support going, we can't be shy about mentioning the service on the forum. Some of the newer members will be in the lucky position of not knowing what it was like before the new regime and discount pricing, so perhaps won't get the fact that we're getting a totally revolutionary service from what it was. We do need to keep posting up when we've got feedback - doesn't have to be ass-kissing or all positive, but he does need to be able to take it to his management to show them what's being done right and what still needs work. It's pretty simple logic - for MMC to continue offering decent pricing, they need to see it's having an effect on specifically SE members using them.
