Pentland Powdercoating

Post by Fluoxetine » Fri Jun 13, 2014 4:25 pm

Got around to having my wheels refurbed last Thursday - On the advice of a few on here, I took the car to Pentland Powdercoating next to Ikea Edinburgh, and made avail of their 'same day service'.

Essentially you drop your car off between 07:30 - 08:00, collect a courtesy car, and return around 16:00 to pick up your car with the work complete.

I had a new set of tyres to fit, and they were happy to do this for me, provided I disposed of the old tyres.

Price was £240 - That included remove tyres / blast / repair / powdercoat in a colour of your choosing / refit my new tyres (with new valves & balancing) - You just return the courtesy car with the same amount of fuel you picked it up with.

Don't have a before picture, but imagine generalised kerb rash, fine scratching all over, and a dodgy Dunlop runflat with a big egg in the sidewall :P

(And sad to report - They no longer have the courtesy Ka - It's now a '14' plate Micra... )

Anyone used these guys recently?

Had a quote of £90 for one wheel from the "Wheel Specialist" at the Gyle which seemed steep.

Pentland Powdercoating currently doing 4 for £180 or £54 each. :thumbsup

I think Andy G used the wheel specialist for his Aston wheels, he was happy with them from memory, but £90 a wheel is expensive! PPE have done customer cars for us when I was involved with SLS and they always turned out well with no fuss

Obviously varies with location.

I had the Aberdeen Branch do my spare set of Exige wheels for N3, £240 with new tyres fitted delivered from Ronnie, disposal of old ones, and an excellent job indistinguishable from new.

Looks like a good job Ed :thumbsup

Also that must have been a big kerb considering the height of the damage. What happened?

Not sure to be honest. Bought a full set from a breakers yard so I would imagine the damage was caused in the accident that wrote off the car.

As Campbell said above I was very impressed with their service, price and quality - will definitely use again.

Only bug bear for me was they didn't have a card machine - I had to run to Sainsbury's to get cash!
