I am sure SE as well as Mr Moncrieff will prove to be a very useful resource in finding the history and any issues of a potential S1 purchase. Happy car shopping 8)

To say Monty (and the boys) has surpassed himself on this one is an understatement. The project nears completion in a simply insane period of time, currently 9 days...

An epic coming shortly - will wait for collection but insane progress and cannot wait to see the fully finished (apart form the cosmetics which can wait to post Dony/Oulton) result!

Just had the S1 in with Craig for some pre Donny and Oulten work.

All work done in double quick time even though I asked for new Bilstein's at the very last moment, car returned gleaming and the handling is transformed.

Really chuffed with the result, had a brilliant blast back over Cairn O Mount on the way home. Roll on Donnington !!!!!

Took my Aston V8 Vantage to Craig to be serviced today.
Busy place with lots of nice metal (and plastic) in there.
Usual great service.
Happy customer. :)

Craig expertly looks after both our Lotuses, as many already know, and I can't see any justification to take them anywhere else.

He supported Lisa and I in the challenging decision to buy a pre-owned Evora earlier this year, and has therefore been obliged to "walk the talk" on how economic these cars actually are to own and maintain.

I'll do an "end of term report" on the Evora elsewhere when it leaves the Ford Household in the coming months, but for now, wanted to highlight a couple of key things to say thank you for.

CMC serviced the car before French Frolic, and charged less than they were obliged to given the extra niggles taken care of at the time.

Support for a lost key was invaluable with only days to go before departing for Frolic, and Craig's problem-solving and ingenuity for cost-saving (plus my frequent visits to Timpson's key cutters) produced a better-than-the-original solution.

Then they fitted it in for post-Frolic remediations (only brake pads, really - exactly what Craig said would be needed) with the usual focus on how to least impact my work and family calendars. Progress updates were unprompted, honest and accurate.

A bigger post-Frolic job was the rear bumper repair after my parking incident with a steel bollard. Steve Walker, my bodyshop of choice for 20 years, had not worked on an Evora before and were anxious not to further damage the bumper when removing it. So Craig stepped in and took care of removal and refitting.

At the same time, a driver's window fault emerged which left me with an open window on a rainy day. This was actioned as an emergency and a warranty claim filed by Craig, on our behalf. The cheque from this has just arrived, for a pretty hefty sum, and this is what prompted a proper "thank-you" post. Were it not for Craig's attention to detail, the Evoranomics may have started to unravel (over such a simple item, in some ways).

So - thanks a million for an amazing 9 months with the Evora, a similar 4 or 5 year period with the Elise, and here's to a few more with whatever Lotus clings onto our drive in the future.

:cheers

OK so my car went in on Monday morning at 8AM ish, I was handed the keys to a rather select courtesy vehicle and went on my merry way.

The task at hand was no small ask.. Remove front clam, remove 14 year old leaky radiator, remove shonky heater resistor, fit alloy rad, fit new heater resistor pack, refit clam all in the one day!! ALL IN THE SAME DAY I TELL YOU!! No word of a Lie, I sh*t you not! I collected the car the same freaking day, just after 6PM!!!! I'm not used to this sort of pace of Lotus repair  I thought at least a couple of days as the clam needed removing!

It doesn't stop there though! He also tightened my alternator belt, adjusted my gear linkages and did a full vehicle inspection and report, I'm sure he has the power to stop time itself to squeeze it all in :thumbsup

Needless to say the price was very fair and including the odds and sods I threw at him through the day to check I received a bill £7 or so less than he had said it would be when he quoted me on the phone and the car was in and out the same day so I can not fault the service or workmanship. The car was propery tested on the bypass yesterday when it took me an hour and a bit to get from Musselburgh to Hermiston Gait and the temp was nice and stable in the mid to high 80s.. Champion!

I can highly recommend Craig Moncrieff Cars to anyone who is looking for any work doing to their cars, rest of my sheds will be heading that way if they ever need anything doing. If your swithering about taking your car there, swither no more you'll be pleasantly surprised with the service workmanship and cost!

Thanks Craig and all who worked on my car :cheers

So, it was time for my car's annual service, seems to me that there is only one place to go, so a quick call to Craig and all was sorted. I then had other factors and logistics to consider so ended up changing the day, but Craig was accommodating and flexible. I arrived at CMC, dropped off the car and was given a lift to my next port of call. Later the same day, a call from Craig to confirm the service was done, and advise on a few areas requiring attention in the future.

I could not make it back the same day, so went back the following day, to find my car waiting for me, cleaned and ready to go at the front of the garage. Top service! I had not asked how much the work would cost, but when presented with the invoice, I was very pleasantly surprised.

The big thing for me is that not only is a great service and great price, but it's the attention to detail, and all the little fixes that happen that are not even on the invoice or mentioned. The following days I would keep spotting little things that had been put right. Top work! :thumbsup

Me again..

This time Craig has demonstrated his complete versatility by taking in and diagnosing the issues with my VW Passat electric hand brake, giving a me suggestions for the best resolution and course of action to take, again all squeezed in and diagnosed swiftly.

CMC are not just a one trick pony, it doesn't matter what car you have, chuck it at them and they will find the problem! My passat had been through a few hands with no resolution in sight until Craig took it in and now we know what the issues are... unfortunately a dealer only fix but everyone else was scratching their heads with it til now! :thumbsup

Unfortunately I wasn't given the team CMC courtesy vehicle this time as the wife helped with the drop off, phew!

Thanks Craig and the team!

Due to a recent spate of breakins and at least one prestige car theft in my neighbourhood plus crappy below freezing weather forecast prompted a quick call to Craig to secure a safe hiding place for R55 till I move into the new place with a garage. What a legend! Plus he gets to look for niggles to fix ;-) top bloke the usual zero hassle can't do enough to help blah blah you all know the gig!

Me again.....

This is getting boring eh!

Once again Craig has excelled with his swift efficient service... This week it was the BMW's turn to visit Craig, I called late on Wednesday enquiringly about a new rear brake caliper, this lead to my car getting dropped off on Thursday morning and collected on Thursday afternoon with a new caliper. Again Craig came in bang on with his service and price, I don't believe I could have got the work done cheaper anywhere else and the same day short notice 'squeeze me in' service is a real bonus!

Elise is in next week again for gear cables and shocks getting changed, next again week the elise will be back in again to change the shocks back, soon I'll need to meet his parents hahahaha

Long and the short of it, no matter what car you drive or how sheddy it is Craig and his team will be able to correctly diagnose it and fix it at a cost I don't believe can be beaten!

Thanks Craig :cheers

*No exciting Lotus review here...*

Had been struggling with a fairly horrific rumbling at high speed and with a big journey up to Torridon next week, I didn't fancy my chances of something major going wrong and a LONG wait on some B road for the AA.

Gave Craig a bell, asked if he could squeeze me in this week and off through to Edinburgh I went, mainly wondering if I was going to arrive on the back of a low loader or not.

Firstly, really really impressed with the premises, his lordship's office is huge, but with loads of space to sit and wait whilst the guys get busy. 4 ramps and both outside and inside full of cars, it was clear that my shed was probably the sh*t of cars this place had seen! Okay, well Mark's Beemer was there and Mr Kyle came in his van...

I let Craig clear a backlog of customers, a tour of his new gaff and off out for a test drive to see if he could diagnose the fault. Half an hour later it was up on the ramps and problem spotted. It was as Craig thought, nothing serious and a pothole had killed the inside of the front driver side tyre. Not sure who was more delighted - Me that it was nothing serious, or Mr Moncrieff that he was right when I dismissed it was tyre related!

I popped over to Starbucks at The Gyle for coffee as Mr Moncrieff has a serious skinny latte habit and it's customary to bring one on your first visit! ;-)

I was delighted that upon my return the car was waiting to go. Craig had spoken to his tyre guy and managed to rustle up two new-ish fronts for me and had me on my way in super quick time. (Too tight to pay for brand new tyres for a car that will hopefully be gone early next year!)

Long and the short... top quality service, a guy who does what he says he's going to do and wants to make sure that you leave very happy. I could have taken the shed to an unknown garage in Dundee, but i felt a whole lot more comfortable that it was in Craig's hands. It's safe to say he's invested a lot into this place, equipment, staff and determined to run it like a tight ship.

If it's as busy as it was in November, then I'd hate to see how busy he's going to be starting the new year! Well done mate!

He's not just amazing when you're handing over cash...

Elaine's just bought an Evora and in the fairly drawn out (although not as drawn out as some guys I've talked to!) process of finding the car, there has been a lot of chat between Craig and I re spec, specific car histories and a variety of other stuff with about five or six different cars. All of the advice doled out has been done as quickly as he could get back to me, with total transparency and without any hint of me being the pain in the arse I undoubtedly was. All sorts of offers from him on the table as well to try and help out. In the end, the dealer option presented the only realistic avenue in terms of time and our remote-ish location, but not for want of Craig trying to help us make a private sale option work in the interrim.

The guy's a legend - simple as.

Think I need my own thread here... I have too many broken cars!

Elise this time, in to have my Shocks removed and Dom's spare ones fitted (Thanks Dom!) so I can send mine away for a refurb. Winter tyres fitted, coolant system pressure tested (All OK), (Ebay) gear cables fitted..

Turns out the cables I was sent were too short so could not be fitted, Craig was great about this even though they'd removed my old ones before finding out they were different and had to refit the old ones, I was a bit gutted as I was looking forward to a crisp gear change but hey ho, job for another day. Tyre's will get a wee review once I get my shocks back on and get her Geo'd.

Cost for the day was as usual surprisingly low, all handled with utmost professionalism, if you're swaying for any reason about putting your car (Any car or shed! they've done my Passat, Elise and 320d) to Craig, don't, just get it booked in and rest assured it's in the best hands! :thumbsup

Back next week for suspension refit and geo... then the BM will be going in for a service.

:cheers

Craig and his team have restored my faith in the Lotus community. He took my car which was ready for the scrap pile and turned it into a usable car again. He is a miracle worker. I don't know how he can do it for such a reasonable price.

When I handed my car in he could tell I was somewhat suspicious of independent Lotus repairers having been badly burned before. He went out of his way to reassure me that everything would be fine and I would honestly have the car back on the road before christmas. I didn't believe him at first, it took a visit to the workshop to hear my car start for the first time in four years before I began to believe.

I still cant believe it is the same car that I handed in just over a month ago. The work his team have done is incredible.

Oh and special mention to the toilets, they are better than most of the hotels I stay in. That just shows his attention to detail...
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

I would echo this. I had a '81 Porsche 911 mysteriously just die on me. A very strange failure with no obvious reason behind it. Experience has taught me that a mysterious failure on an old or specialist car will always result in lengthy delays and many parts being flung at potential problems. Craig had the vehicle collected from the side of the road, gave me a car to get home and had accurately diagnosed the problem the very next working day. Problem was then sorted for next to nothing and I was on my way again.

For years Craig has resolved seemingly serious problems quickly efficiently and cost effectively.
