David Hayton : Carlisle

Post by Kinger » Wed Dec 07, 2016 10:18 pm

Hi,

I recently picked up my Elise Cup from David Hayton's in Carlisle, I've got to admit I felt a bit of a turn coat as all my previous Lotus's ( except the S1) were all bought from Murray's.

I'm pretty impulsive when it comes to my Lotus's, I knew what I wanted and when Ian at MMC said he didn't have any used Cup's available or due in I went south to look at a couple. Bottom line is between the telephone conversations and my showroom visit I got a really good feeling from both Ian and Richard at Hayton's, both very enthusiastic about the cars. The car was absolutely immaculate sitting in the showroom ready for my visit. It took me all of about 5 mins to shake on the deal.

I was most impressed with the service and can recommend them if you ever need an alternative to Murray's.

I met Iain when he invited me to their KH Trackday and have got to know him since.

He has been very helpful, so was fairly confident that you would have a good experience with him.

Good to know there is a decent alternative to MMC.

I'm dropping by for a chat over Xmas hols too, en route from the outlaws festive meltdown. Seem to have the right attitude.

I've dealt with Ian for the past 4.5 years whilst I've been down here. He's a really genuine chap and passionate about the brand and delivering great service.

Would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone.

I paid them a visit and found Ian to be really helpful. I also spoke to one of the technicians and he was enthusiastic as well. It is closer for me than Edinburgh. They seem busy enough and their specialist car sales part has some really interesting stuff, worth a look on it's own. Lovely Fiat Dino and mk1 Escort as well as the usual fezzas and stuff.

I thought the same Malcolm - some eclectic stuff. Real enthusiasts there, it seems.

Bugger, I changed it, not thinking for one moment you were a spelling God. I had more faith in Campbell as a wordsmith.

I wasn't, but had to protect myself with Robin and Pete watching over my shoulder.

I wasn't clear on the spelling until I got his email.

Didn't want to correct anyone pre-emptively.

Iain it is :-)

David Hayton | Lotus Carlisle - Thank you!

Post by SAJ » Fri Mar 10, 2017 6:19 pm

Went for my first visit to David Hayton this morning to get my airbag light reset. The journey down was actually a fairly enjoyable one as I went down the A721 and A702 which was pretty much dead at 8.00am in the morning. It also wasn't as far as I thought, 80 miles door to door so much shorter than I thought (and not the ball ache I thought it would be) - in my head I was thinking 120+ miles.

I arrived and went straight to the Service Desk, asked for Lee Smith (Service Manager) who came out, politely greeted me and we had a quick chat before he left me with a coffee in the waiting area. Car was in and out in the space of about half an hour. While I was waiting Iain Norton (General Manager) came out to have a chat with me and showed me around the showroom. Iain also took me for a tour of the showroom including workshop and all the related facilities including the paint shop which had a couple of Exiges in having some work done.

My first experience with DHL has been a pleasant one, my car isn't under warranty anymore and they happily sorted it and didn't even charge me for the privilege so that was really appreciated. They also had a lot of nice metal in the showroom, Exige V6, Elise 250 CUP, Evora 400, Elise R (only had 2900 miles on it!) and quite a few other exotics too.

Good to know I have a new dealer not too far from me where I can go an buy a new (or used) Lotus from in future :D
