Hi folks from over the border .. I have been asked by a forum member to post a few images of a Car that once belonged to Lawrence Hoy (Sadly deceased I believe ) It was taken apart shortly before his death and stored ,we were told in his loft ? .
Back to me ,We were Topspeed racing. two of us that is, competing competitively in Club F3 with a Dallara 301 .Three years ago I had my third big and unfortunately for me complicated Heart attack . Had to give it all up . Devastated . Anyway 6 months later by chance Dermot Heleay was buying some old bits off us . and my buddy offered him the Dallara . He took it, and the Trailer . .Two hours later feeling absolutely lost ,I suggested doing track days again . one hour later I was looking at ex race tin tops and Dermot offered us A Super seven totally stripped with some good bits . We bought it, Heard a brief history of it saw the Video on You tube etc.
Steve thought it looked like a Pram ,not impressed . it came in a small van in small boxes . Anyway some time later I've put it back together .I must say towards the end of the build things were continually going wrong parts not fitting .. it could have been Lawrence . But when the switch was clicked and it went, I think he was back on board with the build
Now we were going to use it purely for track days .... But ... we had enough parts to make it road legal again . It had to be done ! So to the road it went ,the idea is make it reliable for track days , (I would still like to go around Spa and the ring )
It still has a few issues with cold running ,been struggling to get the old 5 wire IACV, and dry sump is chucking oil out , but the fuelling is amazing on a Map sent from Emerald .
Now I've driven (on track days because of heart ) Formula fords and the F3 car . but the Caterham !!!! Bloody hell its almost as quick as F3 car (same weight ) Quite incredible , Those of you that know 7's I'm sure tell you that they ruffle your hair past about 80mph and on main roads around Cheshire the Race spec springs make my eyes funny .(they blur ) .
Now I've set it up like a Race car ,its got a lot of castor ,the right amount of camber and toe out a bit .All this gives fantastic feel and grip but the settings make the car a bit of a bugger on the road .

Lawrence was a good friend to all on here, mentor to many, and Sage to the lucky few. His legacy absolutely lives on.
As for images, use a regular browser to access the forum, host your images with a popular provider like Flickr etc, then use the IMG tag to link to each image. We have no image storage space on our (free) server hosting.

Great to hear that Lawrences work still lives on. Unsure from your description which car it is though - the Hoyabusa?
To show images, you need to link them from a hosting site. Uploading to the forum massively increases the bandwidth of our backups, which compromises the setup we have (with no advertising and no fees)

I running an R400 Caterham and know a little bit about your car's history, although I never met Lawrence. Would love to see some pictures - to post pictures you need to host them elsewhere eg Flickr or facebook (if they are screen size) and use the the IMG button and the image URL.

I remember lifting that chassis out of the loft and loading it into the white van along with all the other bits and pieces. It is the car before the Hoyabusa, the K-series engined car that started life as a 1400 but became an 1800 with big valve head, etc., etc.
Absolutely brilliant to see it back to life ... well it would be if there were pictures ....

Lawrence certainly had a dry sump kit on the engine in that car. Whether or not Dermot bought it, I cannot remember - I'll be over there tonight so I'll check see if the dry sump bits and bobs are in evidence in the garage and let you know.
Fd - you might remember, was the dry sump kit a Pace kit?

The dry sump was a pace kit and the tank was up front
I think Lawrence had a few issues with it being sick out of the dry sump breather
I had a caterham dry sump and decided as long as it settled on a level it wasn't a big issue as it stopped being sick when it reached a level it was happy with.

Sounds like we have the answer to the dry sump kit. The cylinder head that powered that run up the hill is still in the garage ... if you're interested let me know!
