My dad just spoke to me about this. It was the nephew of a guy in his work (don't have name though).

It was a rover-engined S2. Had been in to Arnold Clarks several times to check some problems but they obviously didn't have the expertise to diagnose this: he was driving along when the car revved of its own accord taking it up to 60mph! Supposedly the ECU revved the car without any input from the driver. He ended up wedged between a wall and a van. I had no idea that could happen! Something to do with a potentiometer?? :?

The driver has broken leg, pins in his leg, and more injuries elsewhere but is thankfully alive!

Don't know if it was someone on here.

sorry to hear the guy was injured. Easy to say now, but why didnt he dip the clutch? I used to suffer from a sticky throttle, its better to bounce off limiter than crash.

more likely that the throttle stuck than the ecu, i would have thought. :?:

Ouch! I thought it was only S1s that had that sticky throttle problem due to the plastic throttle body?

Sounds like a cracking claim from AC, I'm sure the old decrepit bar steward can pay him off with some cash he's found down the side of the couch !!

Probably could have done without reading that, i'll be panicing everytime I touch the throttle now...
