Betcha it's an S1 rack and he's got a lovely collection of star cracks in his upper clam now.

The rack is a stainless number which I converted from an ebay purchase design for a triumph, but works well on the elise. Just the right size. Cost only £60 and well worth the money. I use it a lot. Let me know if you want one and I will look out the link.

Check your clam mate - the reason that they didn't do one for the S2 ('cos they did on the S1) is that the clams are vac-formed and much thinner. I'd have thought mounting a luggage rack and putting anything on it would star crack it like crazy.

No it is not through the clam. I have attached this using brackets so not to cause damage
Takes a good weight too. No rust either after full winter season.
