Grey Exige with roof off - Girvan to Wigtown road

Post by Lazydonkey » Sun Apr 25, 2010 12:55 am

I've no idea what the road is actually called  but you passed the SE bikers who were going in the other direction

You may have spotted the fat man in a power ranger suit on a ducati who was so determined to wave that he forgot he needed two hands to turn a corner :P

You may have spotted the ginger tall man who was clearly too big for his ninja :P

You may have spotted the slightly manic looking bloke who was taking FAR too much enjoyment from spanking superbikes on his 10 year old shed spec ninja :P

.....or you may have spotted a knackered donkey on a stupid american v-twin trying desperately to catch up with three power-rangers on sportsbikes

We all waved.

You were kind enough to wave back.

You probably had absolutely no idea who we were

But to be honest we all waved before we realised we were on bikes

Hi ,

That was me! :D Was just on my way back from visiting my parents 2 miles further up the road before Barrhill.
You all waved.. and I said to my girlfriend.. "they all waved, must be police up ahead..so ended up sticking to 60 all the way to Newton Stewart..." .Looks like you guys were having fun to say the least.. :D I had a Suzuki V-Strom 650 a few years ago (will soon be back on one in the near future) ,and that road is very entertaining.. :thumbsup

I did pass a fourth guy past the bridge who also waved and looked like he'd given up the chase..

The corner you past me on had some very nasty undulations after it.. I did wonder how you got on at that speed.. because they can easily throw you to the opposite side of the road  .

This is only the second time I've been spotted in 7 years..

cheers,

Cowan

i was the 2nd bike you passed. We met at the blind apex, and the passing speed did give me a fright. We were both motoring on

Ddtb was 3rd. He waved, then almost crashed. He took his hand off the throttle to wave, then couldnt power through the corner, and went round it with a foot on the deck, trying to hold himself up.

Sorry we made u slow down. Maybe a standing salute should be adopted to cut down on misunderstandings

Not something you could acuse my friends of

:damnfunny

The Girvan end of that road suits my gay pride march riding style much more - lots of tight twisty stuff means i can stay in touch. :thumbsup Just not brave / stupid enough on the big sweeping a roads. getting there though

Not always, countersteering!!

But after reading the ape's post about him trying to use his right hand to wave, then yeah that will cause problems.

yep.. noticed the third guy trying to wave.. and knowing that road very well, I can almost see what would have happened

Just as well I wasn't giving it the beans.. If my girlfriend wasn't with me.. the closing speed could have been a lot more spectacular.. :D

 Yes I waved with the wrong hand!!

I was tired ok!!! I was up at silly o'clock that morning to meet for the run remember!! (Note: silly o'clock by my standards may be different from that of others!)

I was much more awake after that corner though!! :damnfunny

Bikes are awesome!!!

Ah Cowan - okay, I was wracking my brains to think who'd have a Grey Exige in that neck of the woods (I'd have been the lead bike so might not have waved in time). The bikes were pretty stable on that bit of road - I had everyone warned about the increasing radius lefts (after some SE runs on that road have ended not-so-well), so I think everyone had a little in reserve. Dave must have, as he had time to do the clown-show cornering :damnfunny

We were taking out time.. roof was off, but it was still a bit on the chilly side.. at least my girlfriend thought so at the time.
Glad your mate made it round that bend.. Being a biker myself, I did have time to notice the fact that he took his hand of the throttle mid corner to wave..

cheers,

Cowan
