Hey, 1st time someone has posted about me !
Was me and Leigh (Dirkpitt) on our way to MMC, Leigh was following to give me a lift back home.

I was dropping my car off for a week so decided we would have a wander round the garage comparing the various models. Both of us spent a while looking, Evora S looked smart and very big but also £70k !! New sales guy didn't seem very interested in us so must have sussed we didn't have any money to spend.

Didn't see you waving but I was watching my mirrors to make sure Leigh was still following.

Didn't seem very interested in me a couple of weeks ago either. I've put down a deposit on something else instead.

Was in at Murrays a month ago and felt like I was completely invisible, even within 2 yards of the new Lotus salesman... Oh dear..

I will have a word in Craig's ear as that will not go down well with him after the reputation that he has helped build up.

Graeme will also probably be reading this as well.

That is bad news - ignoring potential customers is not going to help sales. Graeme could always be relied on to welcome on and all. - you never know who has money burning a hole in their pocket.

Breaking News - will Campbell change the Elise, the Skoda, an addition to the fleet or is the deposit for a new kitchen or something ?
We need a new thread or did I miss one somewhere ?

On the flip side, I was in MMC on Tuesday and Brandon came straight up to me and the GF.

Lotus probably get loads of people in for a look, and a lot of people actually prefer to be left alone when looking. I know I do.

When waiting for my car, I went into Aston for a look around and wasn't approached, but it didn't bother me. If I was wanting to know something I'd have went and asked the Salesman.

It doesn't cost anything to say hello or simply acknowledge the fact that you're there. It's Inexcusable.

Or when someone's circumstances change. When I worked abroad, my net take home was almost 4 times what it is now, I didn't know at the time I was going or what id be paid so he better be careful...

Totally agree. I was in on Friday and the showroom was empty, I spent a lot of time looking at 2 cars quite thoroughly including sitting in both. I am a previous customer and potentially a customer of the near future.

Staying rooted to his desk and ignoring me is not a technique that works well when selling a car.

I will be going elsewhere with my cash.

Graeme may have had an excellent rep for selling cars, but it doesn't take any real skill to be polite. They aint gonna get very far continuing like that.

wooo hoo yess, finally spotted  ......thanks jen! :D
unfortunate we didnt spot you, but like ian said he was prob worried he would lose me and i was worried i would lose him..ha, so we weren't too observant.
anyway, on the subject of the show room rep...we did think he seemed a bit diss-interested, after ian dropped off his keys :? and didnt even twitch when ian panicked and said he had left his wallet in the evora s
cant say i was really bothered he didnt give us the whole hard sell......i was quite happy to wonder around with ian and start turning switches and breaking things....especially when i was thinking of jumping into the white 211, dukes of hazard style :). however, was a bit bemused at the lack of any interest, even when ian was asking what the opening times were and if Craig was about, etc......
we had a good look around and sat in three of the cars. Interesting to compare our loty’s to the newer ones, and being critical to a few things that we thought needed changing…ha.me for one was totally unhappy with the feel of the steering wheels(apart from the evora). The material felt plastic but looked like leather……wasn’t keen on that.
I was a bit critical about the fact there was a lot of dust all over the JPS type 72 exige…. The rear spoiler on the evora s was all over the place…sticking up on one end and down on the other. I know this might seem a bit pedantic on my part, but I feel if you want costumers to think these cars are special you need to get the details right in a show room.

leigh :thumbsup

Sad to read all this guys as you can imagine, as Tut says I tried (and hopefully managed!) for 11 years to make the sales side of MMC somewhere that was just enjoyable to come and have a natter, whether you were buying or not (let's face it if you weren't there I'd be talking to myself anyway.... ) For me, the banter was one of the best bits of it (closely followed by the cars.....)

To be fair, the transition from volume sales to niche is a big one, and it's early days, but I shall feed your comments back into the Hethel sales machine....!
