Sure this wouldn't be an SE'er:
Excerpt from the letters page of the 'Greenock Telegraph' yesterday...

A bit off not helping an injured kiddo IMHO.
Coincidently I have a client on that road- better not take the Elise next visit in case of lynching
As there's only a couple of elises locally no doubt we'll all get stick- I've already had some comments

Bit of a crap thing to do, however maybe there is another side to the story- or am I just being too generous in not believing anyone - never mind a fellow Elise owner could be such a $hit

It's a tough one. Sure these boys were genuine, but in the same media we're told all the time not to trust anybody, and you imagine a whole bunch of scams that start with two boys flagging down expensive cars on an isolated road ...
On the other hand, I would hope to be able to tell the difference between two boys setting up a prank/scam and two boys genuinely worried for their friend.
Why didn't they have their own mobile?!? I thought you got one at age 8 these days!!
Cheers,
Robin

I think I would be fairly carefull... heard of folk lying in the street in Glasgow, who jump up and steal your car when you stop to help them.
I guess the best thing to do is call the cops, from a safe distance

As Robin says, you need to judge how honest the kids appear to be...

I am just to trusting I didn't even think about that. I would be to busy thinking "I wonder if he has a hot older sister, who will be really greatfull"

Stupid of the paper to mention the car- makes no difference what kinda motor- if a true story he was an idiot whatever he drove. In a small town people jump to conclusions though and tar everyone with the same brush....
There could be another side to this of course. For example, same rag carried a story recently about how local junkies and hoodies were throwing themselves in front of cars to claim damages!
Suggested they were choosing slower-moving vehicles for obvious reasons- I wonder if that would wash with plod if you were caught speeding...

The car was mentioned because as far as "the media" go.
Nice car = rich = scum = fair game
Alas that is the way people think

Typical tabloid bollcoks. Unlucky for the lads, but its the drivers call at the time surely. you can't judge the driver on not wanting to put himself in any danger given the (Unknown) circumstances.
I would hope that I would stop to help them out, but again I would have to make a judgement call. I don't always carry my mobile anyway (Cos I forget it!) so I might not have been able to help if I didn't want to get out of my car.

That story reeks of pish if you ask me.
Sounds like someone with a grudge sending in the letter just to annoy folk.... or someone at the paper just stirring....
The whole... "I will not shame you further by detailing your appearance or a fuller description of your car" bit is sh*t especially........ really means.. you didn't actually do anything wrong so I can't mention your details or you would sue my ass off, I'm just a grumpy old barsteward who doesn't like anyone overtaking me when I'm pulling my caravan at 20mph on a 60mph road, in my day... yadda yadda yadda.....
As if anyone who saw anyone else "bleeding profusely" from an open fracture would just drive off.....
Load of pish....
That paper isn't even good enough to wipe your ass with!

another theory.....
it's a subliminal recruitment advert for the scouts....
stop your kids becoming irresponsible boy racers in fast cars and allow them to learn life saving skills by joining the scouts!!!
