It's rare to meet somebody who regularly sees a physio, has lost their license and THEN gets an Elise. Usually the Elise comes first!

Hi Guidedog

Welcome to our humble abode, as Campbell says we have a mixed bunch on here, but as is testament to my longevity on SE, they will make any one feel welcome.

Life can be a sh*t at times, but owning an Elise and mixing with like minded people can make it a hell of a lot more pleasurable.

Guidedog - Gavin or gav. Darn it there goes the mystery.

yes. Its amazing how the thought of open top motoring in such a fantastic car can make you smile. For years, ever since owning a Triumph Spitfire mark4 I longed for a Caterham Seven. I was working down in Brighton about seven years ago and on a trip to Caterham took the opportunity to test drive one. My day was superb in the seven albeit a little more cramped than I thought it might be but i decided to head to a Lotus garage to have a look at what was then something I considered to be for young flash buggers (not a crusty traditionalist such as myself) I walked round the showroom and was amazed at how much I was drawn to this sweet little monster. The cream Exige out front screamed own me if you dare but i was allowed to take a 160bhp sport out for a test ride. Grin is not the right word.. I was buzzing. My dream car had changed and I knew that one day i would run into a white van man in order to gain compensation and speed one too many times in order to get a real thirst for driving again.

I know everyone will have their own opinion of which model to go for but is there a year i should avoid? You know faulty brake discs underpowered engine lack of free fluffy dice. I have yet to decide on old or new style. pointers please....

Guidedog.

Gavin

Probably the one question that you will not get a definitive answer for on here is which model should I go for. We all have our favourites and opinions.

However, leaving out the 340R, fantastic car but not probably what you are considering, you have two camps, open and closed top, Elise or Exige.

Next is S1 or S2 and your price bracket.

Finally will you be tracking it, or road only.

Narrow your choice down that way, then ask opinions on models in that Group,

Thanks tut,

How many times have you had this conversation eh?

Definately the Elise.
not totally decided on S1 or S2 but drawn to the grills and the lamps on the S2.
Price bracket £8,000.00 to £12,000.00 (which puts me in the late S1 or early S2 catagory)#
Definately road only..... for now. will play Gran Turisimo for my track kicks.
