I always preferred lego to meccano.Lazydonkey wrote:

Can't wait to get my hands on it. Thinking of entering it at Forrestburn for a laugh.

Welcome to the Lego Elise club.
I'm an s1 man, but there is a lego variety VX NA in the family (g/f has one) and I also have a soft spot for them havuing planned to buy one in the first place...
The 2 cars are so similar to one another (whilst pretty much nothing other than an s2 or an Exige are even remotely similar) yet so different in many ways.
I think I shed maybe an odder viewpoint on the 2 cars as I use my Elise daily, and have swapped it for the VX on a number of days.
So here's possibly the wierdest comparison you'll ever read...
VX boot is way too small and lack of behind the seats storage net (*in Erica's)/ oddly shaped area is a pain. We've been camping with the Elise, but I know we'd never manage all that stuff in the VX.
It has comfier seats. My s1 seats look identical, but somehow lack any form of foam...
It seems to be softer. My Elise sits lower, and doesn't bottom as much as the VX does when hitting gradients.
It feels faster in the mid range - possibly since it has more torque? I reckon maybe the VX power all seems to arrive at once as it seems somewhat sluggish at low revs, whilst the Elise delivers the power a bit more gradually.
It's a bit more thirsty
The roof is a stroke of genius - with the S1, you always feel like you're going camping with that tent to erect :/
The shape of those front wings through the windscreen looks truely immense, and a VX in your rear view is almost a scary sight.
I also thing it has a bit more road presence than the s1 (mainly because the s1 is tiny)
All this said, I'd never swap, not even my tired looking s1 for my other halfs near mint mega low milage vx (coming up for 9.5k now!) There is just something about the s1

Chris,
That is an excellent comparison. Made me laugh as I can already see I'm going to have a love/hate relationship with this car!
I've had the car three days and been away for two of those but I finally managed to get a wee run in it tonight. What a cracking drive. Acceleration on a par with my old Scooby but coupled with such direct feedback and excellent roadholding. I can't wait to get it on a track.
I've already got 'stuck' in it. I had to move to another parking space so I could get the door open enough to get out (I'm not exactly svelte
)
It took me ages to work out how the bonnet release worked - the manual was no help in this regard.
I think I might just take it to work tomorrow...........

Take the roof off and do a "dukes of hazzard" leap into the carkevham wrote:I've already got 'stuck' in it. I had to move to another parking space so I could get the door open enough to get out (I'm not exactly svelte)

Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.
