Elises make great everyday drivers. The only time I didnt use I didnt use my s2 elise was when the doors were completely frozen shut and there was about a foot of snow. Likewise my exige is out everyday. There is absolutely no reason not to buy the first good one you see and use it everyday. Practicality is a perception. What is practical? Practical for what? Is everyone meant to drive about in Range Rovers? :tired I can my Rottie in the passenger seat, my luggage in the boot and my other bits and bobs in the wee shelf. Practical.

My wife bought me a cheap hairdryer for the elise door locks to stop me using hers in the winter when the locks freeze. :thumbsup

Hate hair dryers. Spilt a glass of wine over my Netbook, tried to dry it out with one, melted the keys.

Hi!

Thanks for all the comments!

I've managed to get myself a great little S2!

I bought it from Murray in Edinburgh. Its a 54 plate, storm titanium and I love it! It was traded in there a few weeks ago so its maybe one you'll all recognise from on here. Very low mileage and very clean for its age.

It has a stage 2 exhaust on it which sounds amazing, however very loud for using it every day. Does anyone think it may be worth fitting the standard exhaust on it for comfort or will I just get used to the lovely roar (although my neighbours may not!)

Look forward to showing it off at some local meets sometime soon.

You'll get used to the noise. In fact you might even miss it if you fitted a standard one :)

If you stick a standard exhaust on, all you'll hear is the rattling from the top end of the engine and all the squeaks and thumps around the chassis. :thumbsup

Worth investing in some earplugs for longer journeys though as it can get pretty dangerously loud in the cabin with a full bhuna sports exhaust thanks to the lack of sound deadening. Even a standard car with the roof off gets pretty loud from wind roar in the cabin.

Shug is right - you will be really disappointed if you put a standard exhaust on - your sports car will sound more like a sewing machine.
Stick with the stage 2 or look for quieter sports options
