In fairness, many will get benefit from simply reading or searching, and since we're not charging entrance fees or membership subs, that's pretty much OK in my view.

There is no "official" requirement to post at all (in principle, we could set one up, as other forums do, to ensure people can't use Classifieds until they have lodged x number of posts on other sub-forums...for example).

However all we do ask is that people introduce themselves. That's only polite :-)

So this was the basic premise of the cull warning.

In case any of the readers were not aware, an increasingly significant amount of time was being spent by the volunteer Moderators, managing manual anti-spammer countermeasures. It's all been a balance between the openness of the community versus the need to keep undesirables out (and some of the spammers were far too far over the edge for even our liberal tastes...).

If anyone else who has been culled is reading this, please don't be put off re-joining, we'd be thrilled to have you continue your membership. Like I said, you need only introduce yourself.

And remember. You don't have to be Scottish, and you don't have to own an Elise, to join :thumbsup

As I pointed out earlier, we have 600 members with no posts or only one.

Sorry mr tut for not introducing myself. I frequent the vx220.org forum more often because I am one of them! Lazy Donkey suggested joining scottish elises and I've used it for research more than anything else.

Welcome (back) Ricky :-)

We've got several VX owners (current or past...and perhaps future!) on here now, including Stu who is really maxing his out just now, although I'm not sure how much extra knowledge we'll have over vx220.org.

Don't mind Tut, he's just a grumpy old man...

Not having a go Ricky, and we have many who post little but like reading the posts or getting info from the Forum, or are even shy.

As Campbell says if new members just introduce themselves and make the odd post, then it is obvious from that and normally their nickname whether they are spammers or not.

Cheers

while we are talking about forums we are either spoiled rotten with this one or others are really really sh*t.

One of the landrover forums ive been on have a real go at you if you try and sell your car on the classifieds section if you have either not posted before or havnt posted in a while. They also expect a percentage of the sale to go towards the forum, when the forum is already sponsored by a dealer.

I confess to having to trawl some LR and Rover forums tracking down PG1 MGF Land Rover Elise gearbox oil - MTF94 in case anyone is ever interested. What an experience

I actually agree with the minimum post rule for using Classifieds, but demanding a cut is pushing "sponsorship" a bit far!

OTOH, we can see from this forum that Classifieds is not abused. Reckon it's often down to the exhibited behaviour of the majority etc. Rules eh, who needs 'em...

Blatchat now requires paid membership of the club if you wish to post anything, but access to view the whole forum is free. Lost lots of characters when that was introduced...

Hi All -

Thanks for the welcome back.

With a bit of luck I'll now be able to find out about about group meets and runs in the ABZ area.
