Hello from Arrochar

Post by merlin » Thu May 29, 2014 10:52 pm

Hello all,

This is my second Newbie post, the first being back in 2007 when I had an orange Exige S. Since then I have built a Caterham and raced in the Academy, lived in Vietnam for nine months and bought a scooter, competed in an endurance rally to Greece and back (in the Caterham), and driven a BMW convertible to the Georgia/Azerbaijan border. Having no fixed address for the last few years it is now time to settle down for a bit and so we will be moving to Arrochar on Monday. The Caterham has been hibernating in Anglesey and will be coming up on a low loader in the next few weeks (please get in contact if you know anyone involved in car transport).

The daily (top of a hill in Montenegro)

and racing at Snetterton

See you soon either on the road, or on the track.

:cheers

Merlin.

Welcome back. Cannot help with the low loader ... unless of course it's road registered, and you, err, break down and get the AA to tow it home for you :-)

Welcome back!

Please do share with us some of the stories of your various adventures that you must have! :popcorn

WRT low loader, have a search in general chat - or even start a new thread. It has been discussed before on here, and I think one member actually does car transportation. :thumbsup

The man is getting as devious as me.

Welcome back Merlin, remember your Orange Exige from the Speedfair that I organised at KH in 2008.

I can recommend a Transporter as he took N3 TUT down to Ipswich last week. All 6' 7" of him.

He left London at 0430 on Saturday with a car for Glasgow, joined the queue on the A1, arrived here at 2230, left to drive straight down to Ipswich then home to Burnley for a family event.

Hey Merlin, welcome back :)

I remember you taking me round Kames in your Exige a few years back, and a convoy of me, you and Mass (in his long since departed Gulf Exige) heading home afterwards. Still got my orange Exige after all these years, although it's been joined by an ex academy Caterham also.

How did you get on in the Academy with your Caterham?

Hi Merlin. Welcome back. I remember sharing PMs with you back in about 2008 /2009 when you were selling the orange Exige. As well as being personally interested in your car I recall your photo was being copied and used in a scam advert  Anyway, I got there in the end with buying an orange Exige :D (see avatar). Sounds like a cracking few years and some great life experiences too by the sound of it. :thumbsup

Hi, thank you all for the hellos, Campbell, Robin, Steve, J2, Graeme, MX. Sorry for my late reply, I'm down in Wales this weekend collecting a Sprinter load of stuff. The Caterham is already on its way, with a good backload rate from local rally driver Matt Edwards. Really looking forward to getting to know the West Coast better having spent 11 years in the East.

Hi Dominic, when I get settled I will bang out some text and pull together some more photos.

Thanks Tut, I remember the Speedfair very well, a really great event. My cousin was over from Australia and being a life-long Lotus fan he had an unforgettable day.

Jamie, good to hear from you. They were good days down in Kames and I look forward to taking my Caterham on the little circuit. Congratulations on Caterham ownership, I hope you are enjoying it as much as the Exige. The Academy was an amazing experience, and I finished 3rd in my group. I will write some more about the experience soon as I would very much recommend it.

DJ, ah yes the scammers. Happy to hear you got an Exige and in the right colour. I still miss mine alot, it went to Northern Ireland in the end (for the parades I guess), and has had a few tasty upgrades since my ownership.

:thumbsup

Hi Merlin, I remember you well from Kames too.

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.
