Right I think I am going to make a stupid statement here.........

Does it matter what colour the pads are though because surely the calipers hide them?

If the calipers are blue so be it if your that worried paint them?

Hi scott , Just noticed this post dont read the newbies section that often but a young blonde caught my eye :D your girl ?
Not the usual clientele around here.

Anyways , I remember meeting you at the lights that night , for a moment I thought you wanted a race , Id have won :P

With regards to buying an exige its not cheap m8.

I just forked out £1400 on insurance , £1600 last year which was cool as I had taken that into account when buying the exige but when its comes around again the following year its tough.

2 rear yokos cost me nearly £400 about 4 months ago , I'll need a new set in around a month , not to mention my fronts could probably be doing with replacing now!

Fuel consumption is obviously pretty good on these cars BUT I get so much enjoyment from driving the thing I can easily do a full tank in a weekend .

I rear clam has been slightly cracked , its busting my balls but its also £900 to fix.

Normal consumables are also a little more expensive also and things can mount up .

Going from a 206 , to an exige is a BIG jump . I had an MGTF previously which gave me a little experiance with rear wheel drive but the exige has still caught me out a few times especially in the wet .

Personally Id recommend An elise first , still a cracking car for a young lad to have straight out of his apprenticeship and good uns can be had for 13-14k ? , Black wheels , hardtop , splitter and you have one mean looking elise.

I Originally set out for an elise, but at the time of purchase I aquired a little more cash and splashed out on an exige .

If your heart is set out on an exige then go for it , you'll get a belter for 20k now with prob sub 10k milage.Id highly recommend one which has warranty remaining , or else have a large chunk of savings available . Around 2/3 weeks after I bought mines which was under warrenty I had a major gearbox problem which Lotus initially wouldnt cover. The estimated bill including fittng was 5K. I had some hassle getting it done through warrenty but am so glad I did or else the car would have prob sat on my drive for months with tears streaming down the headlights.

I had planned on getting an exige "s" this year but I am buying another hoose and unless I come into money its no happening.

I'am in barrhead m8 if you want a look around/pax in my car give us a shout.

Due to the fact that most folk around here are die hard lotus enthuisiast, who only care about how the car drives. They find it hilarious that I disliked my blue pagids were very much visible through my wheels .

Personaly i didnt like how you could see the blue parts , I considered painting them black .

To be fair there has been equally rediculous post on here about altering the cars appearance , but I think its allowed , so long as your post counts above 1k. :thumbsup

yeah it is mate she came down on saturday for a look at them, never stop going on about them!

Well Jamie state the obvious 1.4 Hdi diesel lump pushing 63 bhp against 1.8 exige mmmmmmmmmm hahaha

yeah I know the costs aint going to be cheap hence signing up here a year before investing so I can have a better idea of the running cost, models, things that go wrong bla bla bla.

Mabye next year I will find the exige is not suitable and go for an elise who knows but right now my hearts set on a chrome orange exige.

Through reading though I have seen that if you buy from a dealer it looks at though you get 12 mth warrenty with it, well thats how I took it.

My mum and dad are saying I am stupid buying a depreciating car, I should invest it in a house.

I am still young only 21 the now so if I get the car and have a bit of fun I can jump on the property ladder later.

Obvious its a wiser choice to go for a house but doesnt interest me.

ME and my mate lived together for a year with our own house paid by rent and just so much hastle, learn that milk doesnt appear in fridges and toliet roll just doesnt grow on the holder and if you dont shop there is nothing to cook! Its not really something I am desperate to do again as its only me and my dad a couchy flat so I am happy as is.

I would rather get a sausy wee sports car have a bit of fun then deal with the hastle of houses, life once enjoy it I say!

I will have a better idea of budget next year but after working it out I realise 20,000 on a 4% flat rate works out 400 a month. Talking sake say insurance is 100 a month thats 500 a month. THen petrol and tyres n that now and again. I believe thats achievable on a 21-22 grand salary as I will have no other outgoings but I will be able to get down with the facts figures when time is right. If I have to I will go for an elise and then an exige later on but defo fancy the exige more.

Now I am just focusing on learning about them and deal with cash next year!
