Stumbled upon whilst looking for something else, just found it funny how S_E2 was perceived as a toe-dipping exercise, maybe to run parallel with S_E1 :D

Out of interest, does S_E1 have much traffic nowadays?

Must be years since I visited :?

Virtually none.

However my posts on here are pathetic compared to S_E1, they were around 22,000.

Purely coincidental, but I recently had a wee skek on blatchat, and a recent thread shows that I've only just been overtaken as most prolific poster, almost four years after leaving (aka not renewing my membership thus losing posting ability)

Sad cnut, me

I wonder if another format will come along and replace SE2 in time.... making it feel as out of date as SE1 :scratch

Facebook is having a good go at it, I believe.

It's known unofficially as SE3 in any case, isn't it?!

There is an SE facebook group / page, but it's used about as much as SE1 these days. Usually used when SE2 is (on the very rare occasion) off line, to ask if SE2 is offline.

In fact, come to think of it, a large percentage of my friends on FB are SE'rs, so maybe you a right Campbell.

I am not "on" Facebook (and don't plan to be any time soon) so can't say for sure.

I think there is perhaps a middle ground between "trad" forum solutions like SE2, and Facebook Groups, through "microblogging" tools like Yammer etc. You get a blend of twitter-like short message functionality with "following" capabilities etc - although I often feel there is a sense of being "anchorless" with these things, whereas with a trad forum tool you have a sense of simple and straightforward navigation "up and down the tree" of threads and forums etc.

I like the SE5 twitter feed and the #Use_a_OEM_gasket tag.

I think once I have a phone that does more than simply make phone calls, some of this newfangled nonsense will make more sense or be of more use / interest to me.

But until my ageing Nokia lets go, I'm staying in the Stone Age baby!
