The reason i love the Azure blue is i saw one over Christmas & NY up in the Callandar area, near the wool mill where Hamish the cow is, it follow us all the way up through Callandar etc and as we turned in to see Hamish it floored it away and sounded amazing, was very shiney too

I dont have a garage to use as the NSX is in it so im hoping to get a Hard top and one of those rain covers i see being mentioned

Welcome Donna. Good choice of car! I fell in love with the Elise as soon as I saw one and knew I had to have one! Didn't go for a test drive and was not disappointed.

Yep, they are both JDM K20 engines, blue one is standard, yellow is S/C.

A new Link-Up Honda conversion with a used K20 is £10K total, or £13k S/C. Add £3K with a new engine. However I had the blue(N1 TUT) converted in 2004 but got a special deal as it was the first in Scotland and I used it as a demo. However it got to the stage where there was very little paint left on the front, and with tangles with deer, armco, and a rear ending from a German Elise, it needed new bodywork and a refresh so was off the road for quite a while.

In the meantime a friend was selling his car and needed £10K as a deposit on a new one, so I got a bargain. He had a conversion done the year before with a new JDM Honda engine, it is LHD, but true value was more like £16K, especially in Europe. That became N3 TUT when I fitted the S/C.

S1 Honda'd cars are now down to £14K, but not many come up for sale.

Two K20's

There is a silver one on Pistonheads for £14800, tbh i think i would kill myself in a Honda powered Elise.

The standard 118hp Elise will be the fastest car i think ive owned

The NSX is Steves, and thanks he loves it, he got it last year as a sensible car to replace the Atom he crashed

When i was searching for the the Man with the Atom on here i found a post about our crash, how embarassing

The NSX seemed a sensible replacement at the time and i swore id never go in another Atom

Thats why im not fussed about buying a faster Elise as im sure the 118hp will be a fab enough car for me since ive only had a CTR and some older jap cars.

Hopefully be at K/Hill when you have your cars up, id love to see a Honda powered car in the flesh.

Like others have said some colours are pretty rare but worth looking for, heres a couple more colours for you
Chrome Orange S1


Lightning Yellow S2


If you do intend to take the car on track it's worth looking out for one with some sensible upgrades ~(so long as it hasn't been tracked within an inch of its life obviously) and let someone else take the loss for fitting them ~rarely will you make your money back for adding performance upgrades.although they may make your car easier to sell ~ breaded brake hoses, stainless steel clam bolts, alloy radiator, are worth it if fitted as they can be a pain to do
If you find an S1 in a colour you like with a hardtop for instance its likely to be cheaper than paying out for a hardtop @£500-£750 later it you wanted one,

there are relatively few cars for sale compared with other marques so most are known cars, If you buy a known car you can often track its upgrade/ evolution through threads on here

I think the name Andy rings a bell, its who ever has the 3 as Steve had ordered a S/C atom 3 and bought the 220 until it was ready, unfortunately as per the link above it didnt last long

I came on here thinking about buying an S2 Exige in a year and then a couple of weeks later bought s1 111s. This was in June when the financial crisis wasn't so bad. From 10k still had plenty of change over to pay for insurance (I was 21 at the time) and a few hundred to put in the mending fund. Came with hardtop and full interior retrim (2K invoice for it) etc so you should be able to pick one up no bother for that sort of money. When I was looking I found it was handy to look down south as the prices seemed to be more reasonable (get more for your money). O and you won't be disappointed with the purchase I love every bit of mine. If you need a hand I have a sheet somewhere that lists all the look out for's that I made when I was looking for my S1. I'll have a look for it as its handy to look at.

I think whenever i get near an Elise im going to need one asap too, deffo want to have one for the better waeterh coming

Shame he didn't make it - he'd have had an army of admirers - lovely motor.

He only got the NSX early this year so it was probably the Atom Steve was going to bring but they kept putting his date back, thats why he bought the 2nd hand one.

Id like to learn from his mistakes and do some tuition days at KH or similar to learn how to drive the car properly and safely so i can enjoy the trackdays i do more

Ive totally forgotten about a S2000 now, youve all convinced me a need a Lotus and the sooner the better IMO

I dont mind travelling, ive been up and down the country nearly every year to pick up a different car as there seems more choice and good prices down there but equally id pay a bit more to buy a known good one up here, id be gutted if i ended up with a wreak

Since im now looking at earlier cars can anyone tell me if i can still get the AA parts and labour thing if the car is 9-10 years old or older? as id prefer to get that since im in the AA already
