Cool. I'm down the road a bit at the corner of Elderslie Street and Berkeley Street. If I park outside the office, you'll see the car on Elderslie Street. But when I can't afford the meters, I usually park further into the West End, where there's free parking.
I sometimes go a wee walk up your way at lunchtime, so will keep my eyes open for your car.
Cheers,
Dez

Picked it up at 10am this morning. Have not been able to stop grinning all day! Have done about 150 miles so far and hoping to get a lot more in tomorrow. Was nice to be able to get the top off on my first day of ownership.
Took loads of friends out for a ride and they were loving it. I can't believe the stares it gets. I returned to it after parking in Bothwell Street in Glasgow today to find a couple absolutely drooling over it and staring inside! I sometimes forget when I'm actually driving it why it's pulling all these looks and then I step outside and remind myself just how f***king beautiful it is!
Was also extremely amusing to have a couple of kids in a Saxo trying to race me on the motorway tonight!
Tonight was the first I'd driven it in the dark and I notice that one of the headlights casts a very distinct line of light onto the ground on the right side of the car. Not sure if it's out of alignment. Is this common?
And now for the bad news . . . Some idiot scuffed the car on my very first day of ownership. I didn't actually notice it until I got home, but there was a big black scuff on the rear left of the bodywork. Either someone scuffed it when they were pulling out from a parking space behind me or it might have been a girl in a Megane who tried to squeeze by me on the left when I was turning right. I didn't think there was enough room for her, but I never heard any scraping at the time.
Managed to get the worst of it off with a bit of T-cut and autoglym polish. Might ask Gavin at MMC if there's any chance their guys could try to buff it up a bit with one of those spinning buffing thingies. You can only really see it if I point it out, but would still like it sorted. It hasn't really scratched the paintwork, just a bumper scuffing it, but still bloody annoying. And on my first day! Grrrrrrrr!
[sorry for the very long post!)

If the scuff is only obvious when you look closely it'll probably polish out. I had one on the drivers door of mine and used Auto Glym stuff to polish it and you can't see it anymore.
Glad to hear you're enjoying it

Cheers for the tips guys.
Sanjoy - do you know Sue Kee? Was having dinner with her on Friday night and mentioned that I was picking up an Elise the next morning. She said her friend Sanjoy has an Elise, so I'm assuming it's you?

My first day with the liz saw me chip the windscreen right in the middle. I'm pretty sure everyone has a similar story. Neil (As in Neil and Mags) had his 160 totalled inside a day IIRC.
Glad you are enjoying it! Keep on smiling!

And drive with the lights on!
'Lotus Blindness' is a recognised medical condition suffered by most other road users.

Not to be confused with Lotus deafness which is what happens when you buy a Cat Replacement Pipe and Sports exhaust....

Would agree on the lights thing. Had a blast over Dukes Pass on Sunday until I came across a big German bus doing the touristy thing at 0845 on a Sunday morning

Don't think he saw me, black liz in the rain doesn't stand out too well. Popped on dipped lights and kept in his nearside mirror seemed to do trick as he pulled over.

And then there is the long term condition called Lotus Skintness, which normally happens soon after your first head gasket failure...
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

The alternate lotus position is adopted when adjusting anything in the footwell.

Not filling me with confidence here guys . . . !
I thought the head gasket problem only applied to the Rover engine? Surely the Toyota engine doesn't have the same problem? Toyota engines usually last forever.
Good tips about the lights . . . especially with my Elise being the same colour as the road!
