Gavin

I presume that your guide dog is a pet, and that you do not actually need it?

I have had German Shepherds for 30 years, usually two at a time, but now my final dog is 14 years old, and very little time left.

hi guys,

Graeme has been plagued by me for three years. I will however take your advice on the test drive. I did drive a 160 sport a couple of years ago which got me hooked in the first place. im fairly certain there is still a slight up turn in my lip left over from the grin that i had on that day. Notes taken on the Race tech v sports tourer question.

Tut,
I have been training Guide dogs for 12 years now.. The main part of my job is matching and training the dogs with their new owners however i find that people confuse my job role with that of a puppy walker who has the pup for 12 months before they come in for training. great job but no puppies for me. Just big slobbery hairey beasts. not sure G would be too happy if i brought on in for a drive. know the GSD breed well as they can make super guide dogs. Was a RAF police dog handler for 10 years with GSD's before i joined Guide Dogs. Strange cos Im not a massive "dog lover".

will drop in a line when i am heading down to the showroom as it would be great to meet you guys.

.gav.

Hi guys,

has anyone any knowledge of the red elise sports tourer for sale in Edinburgh. Currently at 12,500. I am meeting the owner on sat for a lookie. If there is any info knocking around out there or comments on the price and the ad I would appreciate it. Also "points to look for" on purchasing a car of this age. Not bad for a 2001 as it only has 19500 on the clock. who knows this could be the one....

ahh.. dont get driving licence back until the 4th April so will have to sit in the passanger seat... doh!

I'm sure the next few weeks will just fly in ;)

I'd check the steering wheel for play, make sure the cambelt has been done, check brakes & tyres too as they may still be origional at that mileage! Even with low mileage, regular TLC would have been needed, so look for plenty regular recipts!

Also, try driving the car with both windows slightly down to check for window rattles, make sure the stitching on the roof is ok (tend to go at the back), make sure the door striker pins hold the doors in place without rattles too. Heater controls can be a pain, so ensure you can chance the temp all the way up & down, and make sure it actually works!!

Hi guys,

thanx for the input. will make life so much easier.

Zero hour approaches and I have taken on board everything I have read. The most difficult to adhear to will be "you'll probably want to buy the first one you see - I did". (thx Shug). So 1200 hrs today I will be out test passangering (no bloody license until the 4th April) a ruby red 2001 sports Tourer.

If all goes well and I am the owner of a Lotus elise i am 100% wanting to spend my summer driving round the Highlands of Scotland on Long, short and non weekends. I will post trips up when im doing them but would love to join others so will keep my eyes peeled from "drive outs".

next post... the outcome...

So, I can drive again on the 3rd April. i have given myself RSI with all the poishing and waxing. It has been great waiting but oh so painful having to sit in the car and just play the cd player. I would like to offer a midnight trip to anyone who would like to join me. so midnight tomorrow I will be heading out onto the bypass. I will of course be sticking to the speed limit and taking it easy.

Anyone wishing to join me I will be at the M&S store at Straiton at hmm... three minutes past twelve.

I am as you guys might imagine a happy man.

Looks fantastic mate!

I'm sure the next couple of days will feel like the longest wait ever. Just take it easy at least for the first 3 miles!!
