Yes had glanced over it, but missed the head gasket being done(saw it and thought thats gonna go bang). Not too clued up on the terminology, is it normal to replace the whole head and gasket, or just new gasket and back on with old head?? Maybe I should ask seller that.
Cheers though Sanjoy, thats my sort of price and with the hard top as well.
Just need to sort out the readies...

This is the one I am kind of looking at:
http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/67460.htm
Like the colour, but I guess like the guy in your ad says, more bits will need doing(steering rack, shocks, bushes etc).
What to do........

Sanjoys knowledge might be down to the fact that your car is sitting at the back of MMC with your private plate on it??
Saw it last nite when I went for a wee look around
Nice car

If there's no head warp then you just whack a new gasket on. Worst case, it might need a skim, but deffo no new head...
That's unless it was actually the head that went porus - but not likely from his description. That's what happened to mckeann's, IIRC.
160 bhp is pretty safe for a K series. You can usually take them to 170 bhp on a standard bottom end with little worry about reliability if it's done right. When you start getting towards 180bhp and upwards is when you have to get twitchy about bangs.

Ah well, I shall flush my dreams down the pan then.
Hope he enjoys it though. I'm off back to the drawing board.

Oh, BTW, things like wheel bearings & balljoints need not be a major expense. Stephen on here can get the bits and somebody's always willing to help out with fitting

Cheers for the advice. Maybe it's time for a shiny red weapon after all.

Always kills me when people ask abotu a specific second hand car on seloc. The poor bassa who is having to sell his pride and joy get it ripped to sh*t.
Happened to me when I thought about sellign a few years back. Mentioned Never been tracked but been on a few airfields and off the thread started ...
