Its mechanical engineering, I work for Weir Pumps in cathcart in Glasgow. Is now known as CLyde pumps since Jim McColl bought us over. I will qualify as a business technician. What basically happens is I train 6 mths in EK in milling turning fitting CAD maintance etc, then come up to Weirs do a year on shop floor in assembly and fitting and then the rest of my 4 year apprentiship in offices moving around the areas, draughting, CAD and solidworks, design, sales and marketing, custom engineering, service and spares etc. When your times out you can be offered a position in any department and this is where you will grow your skills. For instance I could become a draughtsmen or a sales engineering or a hydraulic design engineering depending where I am offered and also where I fight to get in myself.
Any chance you could find out when the Eider sea water lift pump is heading back out.. the previous one was B.E.R....?

Shell Mech tech, Eider Alpha Platform.

Real name.. John Reid.
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

Erm had a quick look about doesnt seem to be that much info on that project that I can find. I am guessing they are due next year then? Dont quote me on that just taking a guess with what I found. Seems they are dealing with a guy Graham Marshall or something from Shell and the enquiry looks to be sent in mid april this year.
