The darkest moment.

The darkest moment, they say, is immediately before the dawn. If indeed this is the case then the sun most definately is just about to come up for me. Here is why.. Two and a half years ago whilst in the line of duty (returning a guide dog owner home following training him with his new dog) and heading south on the A1 a white van driven by a white van man pulled out into the fast lane as I was overtaking someone else. I pulled over... veered in a panic more like into his path where i met him at 45 degrees as he continued across the duel carriageway giving me little option other than to head off the road and on down the side of the verge where i came to a sudden halt resting with great comfort on my airbag. I got out of my mangled astra estate and headed off to hospital. 9 months later and having spent a few of them struggling to keep my job and my sanity I found myself undergoing back surgery in Munich at the Alpha Klinik. To make matters worse I was caught speeding on the A9 after the accident whilst manfully attempting to continue my work prior to being forced home. A princely 13 miles an hour over the 50 mph speed limit earned me 6 months ban and £350.00 fine. The operation went well but I have spent what seems like a lifetime in the gym at the physio or with a shrink. My ban has month to go and I now find myself on the very brink of someone throwing compensation money at me. It seems like there is no better time than the present (im also 40 this year) to purchase the car of my dreams. An Elise (no surprise there really is there). and so I introduce myself to you my potential new friends as i browse as much of your excellent forum as i can.
So. this summer Im scouting Piston heads autotrader and anywhere else i can think of to find a late S1 or early S2 in which to "pootle" leasurly in an effort never to lose my license again.
I would love the opportunity to meet up with some of you and cast an eye over your beautiful cars whilst making purring noises and asking hopefully relivent questions. are there any plans for a get together soon where i can join you for for the above?
