Another New Person from Aberdeen

Post by Peter76 » Sun Apr 27, 2008 11:54 am

Hello!

Been looking at Exiges (S) for a few months now and am getting ever closer to buying one (hopefully within the month, just in time for summer). Read some negative feedback about MMC on here and just wondered what everyone really thought about them! They have two at the moment that i'm very interested in.

What happens if my car has probs, do i need to drive it all the way down there or can they arrange something for me? I know they are part of the same company as the Vauxhall people on the Langstracht. Does that make any difference?

There's a very nice Yellow Exige down the road from me. Drove down the road behind it a few weeks ago and couldn't take my eyes of the damn thing!!! Every time i see one, i loose all concentration on what i'm doing!!! Will this feeling go away???!!!

Anyway currently working overseas and hope to be back in the next few days and down to MMC to buy a car!

Hi and Welcome. :)

1st thing to bear in mind is that the internet does distort things a bit so in relation to MMC, all the folk who have good experiences there dont rush home to their pc and post up the fact that they had an ok / good / excellent service. Thats the same for all other places too so its something to bear in mind and I am as guilty as anyone for airing any gripes more than I have probably aired my satisfaction with MMC.

2nd, I dont think there will be many posts saying anything negative about the sales side of MMC. Graeme is fantastic at what he does (and I dont just mean selling you something) and the fact that most folk would go back there for a car shows a bit of loyalty that you dont tend to get with many places.

I do think you need to take the car back to them for getting things sorted under warranty which is a bummer for anyone that doesn't live in Edinburgh but in the 5 years I have had a lotus I have only had to back a couple of times so it hasn't really been a hassle and obviously there are other good and cheaper options for getting servicing and maintainence done anyway so apart from warranty issues you are not really tied to the main dealer anyhow.

What a nice bunch!!! :cheers

Thanks for your reply renmure. I guess your right in that people are more likely to air bad experiences that good ones. I met Graeme when i was down there and he certainly knows his stuff. He's even managed to ruin the budget i had set for this car!!

I will most certainly be back on with pics of what i buy.

And steve-weegie, the green one is even more over my budget  so not going to be buying that one...sorry!!

If anyone can tell me anything i should check for when test driving looking at the car i'd much appreciate it.

Peter

We have a pretty healthy ownership of the Elise family now in Aberdeenshire, so will look out for you getting one.

Give me a ring if you want any help/advice, or want to look over and try any of our cars.
