Hello.....again

Post by Peter » Tue Jun 17, 2008 3:09 pm

Hello, after 6 years of non Elise ownership I've taken the plunge again. This week I take delivery of a new Elise and am looking forward to joining in some of the SE events again.

For those that remember me (Green S1 1999 - 2002) hello again, still living in Dalgety Bay with Carol and daughter Eve. For those that don't then I look forward to meeting you soon

ps. Are there any Ring trips planned this year?

Cheers, Peter

So is that the helicopter running budget blown on Elise depreciation ;-)

Good to see you back - check out the French Frolic thread and the Spa/Ring thread - both take in some Ring action (quiet, shug) August and October IIRC.

Cheers,
Robin

Welcome back Peter, it was good to see you again after all these years, up at KH last Friday. I didnt think it would take you long to get the bug again. Not quite as much fun as a helicopter, but not far off it!!

What sort of Elise have you bought?

Hi All, thanks for the welcome!

Robin, It doesn't feel like a good time to be over extending and I think the running costs of the Heli could sink me easily. I've decided that I'll keep flying a couple of times a month then review part/ownership in a couple of years. In the meantime I'll enjoy another Elise.

Paul, great to see you up at Knockhill, the 340R looks fantastic. I eventually chose an Elise SC with the sport pack. Burnt orange with black wheels/diffuser etc my avatar is the actual car, I was trying to get a nice picture of the paint to convince Carol that it was tasteful. She just thinks it will clash with her red mini.

These Elises are getting expensive but I'm very impressed with the build of the 08 cars and was amazed by the performance of the SC demonstrator I also liked the flexibility of the supercharged engine.

Cheers, Peter

Carol's right about the colour clash but just get her MINI sprayed to match while she's at the shops one afternoon ;-)

As for performance, if you do to the S2SC what you did to that poor S1 before it got its engine upgrade, not even Tut is going to be passing you on trackdays ;-)

Welcome back, you will never have any spare time again!

Thanks Campbell & Neil

I was watching Tut's car on track at the Lotus night, it was blisteringly fast up the main straight, I reckon there's not much that will catch or stay with it.

Neil, I do love the Ring and have a lot of respect for the track. I don't think I was any faster than the others, probably just less polished. My Green machine was a bit too low for the carousel in fact it was better at scooping dead animals of the road at the expense of my number plate. I have video from some of the laps and the crunching noises from the car hitting the concrete slabs makes me wince. I'm really looking forward to going back soon.

Cheers, Peter
