After 4 years of owning an Excel I has bitten the bullet and sold it and I am now the proud owner of a S1 Elise 1998 with 22000mls on the clock.
Standard bar Janspeed exhaust and KN filter.
The MMC brakes are great but the original shockers sound like someone is hitting under the car with a mallet so they will have to go.
Smiles per mile it is better than the Excel but not as comfy, still I have used it daily for the last three weeks and intend to carry on all year.
No doubt I will be a regular searcher on the technical column to keep her on the road
Cheers
Kinnon

Excellent - good to see someone coming from other Lotus models. I sometimes get the impression Elise owners are seen as the hooligan undesirables of the Lotus scene
Slap some S2 suspension on the car and it'll transform it. Get along to a meet too - plenty happening in Aberdeen

I think the extra comfort in the older Lotus cars and the fact that getting in and out is a lot easier makes them appealing but now I have an Elise I should have done it years ago.
I hope to update the suspension so I will keep an eye on the classified as the wallet has had a big enough scare this month
I will get in touch with the other local lads and get to some of the track days this year .
Cheers

re: suspension upgrade - probably your best bet is the Nitron racing reds - ask Noops about them as he has had them fitted recently to his S1 s160.
you'll get them on eliseparts...
alternative i to keep an eye out for bilsteins over on pistonheads classifieds or SELOC classifieds.
