Not such a newbie but I finally bought an Elise

Hello all well I finally bought an Elise, it's an S1 111s and as chav as they come.....

1. Sports seat covers... help you slide around the cabin whilst cornering
2.Cup holders x2 hahaha why????
3. WRC hanbrake cover, taped on!!
4. Chav omp gear knob, comes off in your hand.
5.Chrome motorsport badges.
6.Skull valve caps to throw the wheel ballance off hahaha.
7.missing the rollbar cover.....
8.chav cd player..
9.Tyres no-one has ever heard of

Geez... well I have started to strip all this tat off now and am looking to get her up to scratch...

To do list.

1.S2 suspension upgrade
2.decent brake pads, thinking yellow stuff R as per the big write ups on seloc
3.Decent tyres
4.New headlight covers as one is broken
5.Roll hoop cover as mine is missing.
6.spit and polish!
7.Induction kit
8.possible bigger throttle body
9.possible higher fuel pressure
10. geo set up
11. mavbe carbon side scoops?
12. 3 element diffuser?
13. front splitter?
14. spoiler raiser bolck?
15 love a set of victories but they can wait til I sell my Esprit
16.2 big stripes over the top....

So there we have it a new car to the fold. I don't really want to give her an official outing until I get some of the bit's and bobs seen to. I can't afford to do much at the moment as the Esprit is still needing fixed and I need to keep some money for that so....... ANYONE WITHANY SECONDHAND TASTY BITS GIVE ME A SHOUT!! may well take them off your hands..

Woohoo... !!
If on a budget, I believe there is a cheap modification you can make to the 48mm Throttle Body.. just need some solder IIRC. Of course, if you've got the plastic one, then you might be wanting to change it anyway (I might have a spare alloy 48mm one soon).

Hahaha chav bits have found my bin already ..... Hey Nizzy, nah that one stick our too far for me, just about 20mm past the body is as far as I'd have it mate, do you make these?? ... Hey Gorrie I have an alloy TB, not sure what size it is though. I think you can get 56mm one on e-bay anyone tried this on a vvc? Pics will follow once I get her cleaned up and some stuff done like suspension and stripes

Doh... sorry, it's vvc... of course it's the alloy one !!
It'll likely be the 52mm TB you have (there is probably a little circle stamped with '52' next to where it says Dellorto... near the sensor plug on the manifold side of the TB).
Not sure if there is any real merit in putting a 56mm on tbh mate.... but, if you do... your 52mm will sell for good money so I doubt it'll cost you.

I see you can get GAZ adjustable shockies for about £450... might be worth a try?
Yellowstuffs... I just got a full set for £89 from JRT Automotive (but I was paying for delivery on my discs at the time). Seems to undercut some of the other websites for the same pads.

Points 1, 2, 3 and 10 on your list would be the priorities so you are close!

Don't have much relevant stuff rattling around my garage IIRC but I will check! I think I have the original plastic window winders however the ally versions were fitted to VVCs as standard I *think*.

Yeah the vvc has the alloy winders, I'll just leave them and the alloy door bottons as they are though....

I can imagine why you feel that way, but get used to what the Elise can do - especially around corners - first of all.

People like McKean and Tut et all will tell you that you can never have enough power, but a lot of the Elise's finesse is in how it uses its modest power to such great effect.

Anyone can drive a 200bhp, 750kg car fast in a straight line...but using that through twisty sections, or in difficult conditions, is not for the faint-hearted and can more easily lead straight to an appointment at A&E or the insurer or the court, or all of the above

You could take the Elise on track before the power upgrade to see how you feel. Coming from the Esprit you may feel it lacks the power but it should be a lot better sorted in corners. I'd set up the geo and upgrade brakes first (pads, fluid & hoses). Then change tyres if required. If you still feel the need for more power, then upgrade.

Will do mass, suspension needs looking at first as it feels soggy at the back, the brakes have braided hoses fitted already and the discs and pads are new but cra*p hahaha, may try the new yellowstuff and possibly some grooved discs, I'll get Ali to sort the fluid out for me along with a service soon.

The current tyres are Ventus?? Anyone know or used these, they look almost new???? May look for used 048's on seloc but I'm not sure I have the tallent to handle these in the wet? so some advan neo would be best suited to me, possibly toyo's???? not sure yet?

Seriously the power is not what I was hoping for but I'm sure there is plenty that can be done to a VVC although I don't have the cash to do away with the VVC system... Too much cash for too little gain. 1st steps for more power obviously will be the manifold and air filter, it has a janspeed on it at the moment but I fancy a larrini or something that will scream a bit more on full tilt. I'm wondering if anyone does a worthwhile chip type device for them? May look at highter fuel pressure and 56mm TB???? Any thoughts? Gas flowing etc would be nice but I've not got the money at the moment for that, wopuld also like a lightened flywheel to get her to rev quicker?? Anything I've missed??? Oops forgot possible remote thermostat and ally rad too at some point when funds allow
