Hi all...

Post by jabsco » Tue Dec 02, 2008 9:48 pm

Hey folks :cheers had my 98 purple S1 for about 6 weeks now, drive it from larbert to livingston as my daily driver and despite having to take up yoga to get in and out, seemingly inviting almost every other driver in the world to drive about five feet away from my rear bumper, put up with the odd leak , the odd scary early morning drive - I have loved every single minute. :P

unfortunately it is currently back with the garage I bought it from as it died on Sunday night... will spare you all the details but no news as to what has gone wrong yet. was kind of ready for a few reliability issue so haven't been too hacked off by the whole thing ..except when I broke down on Sunday; I got the car off the main road onto a residential cul de sac (not private road), got it parked and despite the fact I had no power, made sure I wasn't blocking any access. came back to get the car picked up next morning to find a charming letter threatening to have my car towed if i ever parked like this again.. :chainsaw I'm ashamed to say I took the bait and went and knocked on some doors but didn't find the author.

anyway should find out what's up with my baby tomorrow keep your fingers crossed.

Welcome along.

Any pics? Mate of mine used to have a purple S1 so you may have his old car - not many of them about.

Shame about the crappy note - some people are just soooo small minded. I would be tempted to take Sanjoy's advice, buy a Polish registered scrapper, don't register it in your name, and park it in said cul-de-sac :-)

Best of luck getting it fixed and welcome along!

Cheers,
Robin

glad to see you came into Lotus ownership with the mindset that something will go wrong and youre not annoyed that its broken down so soon after you bought it.

Enjoy your stay :thumbsup

Hi, welcome to Scottish_Elises.

Normally we could help you out with any car problems, but having only had it for such a short period, I presume that the garage that you bought it from will deal with it. If you need any help then just shout.

ps pity that you could not knock on heads as well as doors.

Hello Jabsco,

Yep you have the right attitude and you have also come to the right place.

Once you learn to wade through the drivel, innuendo, inflammatory yet secretly-well-meaning jibes and of course the completely Non Lotus Content ("NLC") of some threads, you will almost certainly...

a) find out all you needed to know and probably more about your Elise

and

b) really enjoy yourself.

We try to get together for "real" socialising periodically...Edinbeers and Weegiebeers are the threads to look out for during the closed season...and Dukes Pass runs, French Frolics (!), Sweeping up the Leaves Runs and other "anyone fancy a wee run tonight" titles are the ones to watch if you actually would like to drive your car with others occasionally!

Good luck with the repairs / pursuit of garage warranty, if you get stuck just go into Technical subforum and do some searching. Failing that, post something in there, as some of our best brains monitor only that forum and believe me there are few problems that have left them beat ;-)

Welcome along.
