March is just the unveiling, S3 wont be available till late 2010 early 2011 more than likely.

Buy an already depreciated S2 shed second hand, make most of summer motoring, trade in for S3 (assuming it's any good) in 2011.

Or if you have more money than sense, blow a whack on a spanking SC now, lose a small fortune in a year, then spank another 30 odd £k on an untested replacement and hope it isn't crap.

Test drive some. I don't knwo what your car history is but don't get too hung up on BHP. If you are new to fast cars the "lower" powered cars may surprise you.

Just back from having a wee beer, great to see all these replies.I`ve been running a mx5 for the past 8years,not great BHP but fun none the less.I want to get this purchase right as i intend to use it daily and to hold on to it for a while.

Ello :welcome

could always buy an S1 to mess about in for a while if you wanted to wait to see what the S3 was like as your not likely to loose much cash on it ..... unless its a dud :D

I wouldn't get hung up on the high BHP either tbh, especially coming from an mx5.

My girl friend had 2 mk1 mx5 1.8s, now has a VX220 2.2 N/A and I have an early Elise s1 (only slightly fettled from the 118hp standard) and both cars feel much quicker than the mx5 did. Go test drive a couple of cars, if possible try 1 of:
S1 Elise
Earlier Rover engined S2
Later Toyota engined S2
S2 Exige.

I'd imagine they all offer different variations of the same recipe (not that i've driven them all!)

We currently run the vx daily, and i've used my s1 daily too, it all depends what you are willing to live with!

Oh and :welcome
