Newbie here - Looking for help!

Post by D2LHR » Sun Jul 11, 2010 1:16 am

Hi all!

I'm in the process of buying my first Lotus. Was along speaking to Graeme at Lotus in Ediburgh. Great help today and gave me this site to check out and join so here I am. Like I say I havent bought anything yet but fingers crossed I will have in the next week or so.

I think I asked Graeme all the questions I had for now but may be looking to pick the brains of anyone willing in the future.

I'm hoping to buy an Elise R S2 with the Touring Pack as I am going to be using this as my main car! I know its probably not the most practical car, especially with me having a Focus ST at the moment, however, I've liked them for a while and the time is right so stuff practicality! I don't do a huge amount of miles over the year anyway so it shouldn't be too bad!

Once I get my hands on the Elise that is right for me I'll try and come along to some of the track days. I probably wont go on the track but will be good to see some your cars and hopefully get talking to some of you and I can build on my limited knowledge of Lotus Elise's!

Anyway, I've introduced myself. I dont want to blether on too much. Look forward to meeting you all sometime.

Dave

PS
If anyone is selling or knows of anyone selling, feel free to let me know and I can check it out. I'm waiting on a trade in coming in to Lotus in Ediburgh that sounds exactly what I'm after and will hopefully get to see that soon but doesn't do any harm in checking any other ones out in the meantime.

Thanks for your time!

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

:welcome Good luck with your search, I hope the right car pops up before summer completely disapears. Check the AMP3 thread for track days, it's on the 6th aug and a safe way to pop your trackday cherry should you choose to :D

:welcome and your making a good choice going for a lotus, its amazing how addictive these little babies can be.

You'll find plenty of info and help on here.

One word of advice, when you find a car you like dont hang about, Its almost as if lotus has its own world of sales nothing seems to stand still for long.

good hunting

Technically the elise isn't my daily drive, but somehow I always manage to find an excuse!

Doubt you'll regret it- the benefits outweigh the drawbacks :thumbsup

As others hvae said you can easily use it as a daily driver - although a good sense of humour may come in handy in the depths of winter - especially if you dont garage it
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

Elaine (my other half) uses her R as a daily driver, <touch wood> one of the most reliable cars she's ever owned (and that history consists of a Honda and an Audi)

They actually prefer getting used to sitting around - mine was fine when it was used every day, since it became an occasional car and track slag, it's become more troublesome (but it is 10 this year and not what you'd call standard!)

To echo what's been said - you see one you like, get it bought :thumbsup
