Finally!

Post by Rag_It » Fri Jul 30, 2010 10:58 pm

So, almost 9 years after I nearly bought my first Lotus, a maroon coloured S1 from Perth, I have now bought my first Lotus! I ended up picking up a VX220 in 2004 as i needed a car, and happily one had been traded into work at Mercedes and I picked up a bargain. Sold it only due to getting my current job in Dundee and doing 120 miles a day back and forth to Edinburgh. I did end up doing three weeks in it, and ended up getting so bored that i sold it, lost nothing and bought an A4 diesel.....
Then came the house purchase, then the engagement, then the wedding, and now my money is mine to blow until I get in to Greg Rolfe situation, and have to purchase something dull again, and pretend i am no longer into cars!

So, thanks to SE, whilst in South Africa many messages came through letting me know of a car that had just come up for sale, so within an hour i had sent a few e-mails and a few hours waiting and the car was mine!

On Friday the 6th I fly down to Bristol where i will take his very well looked after 135R, back to the motherland, where it once stayed! Tommy has been a delight to deal with, and is sad to be losing his car that the has spent a lot of time and money treasuring, but I am over the moon and will no doubt have it on the back of the AA truck within weeks, given my unfounded reputation as Dave 'car breaker' Hay!

I hope to make some minutes of the AMP3 track day, but taking the wife with me, so my trip back won't be as fast as I would like it to be!

Anyway, it has taken a while, a lot of piss taking, but Lotus or not, i have met some awesome people through here, some made the wedding which i think says a lot, and I really look forward to really getting a lot more out of S.E actually with a Lotus!

Cheers,

Dave

Great news Dave.

I was always pretty confident. that you would get there in the end. A great version that you have bought as well.

Congrats Dave, you will be pleased to know, 7 years after the original, I am off on the TRS TDE tomorrow (the rest are already underway getting pissed at Fi's) If you fancy a wee run let me know, I'll be passing Dundee ish about lunchtime. Plenty of room at the bunkhouse for kipping at Durness.

Congratulations on the purchase Dave,

After waitng for 4 years myself (and like you 'making do' with a VX220 in between) the wait just makes is that much sweeter.

All the best for the drive back up and get some pictures up asap :thumbsup

-Mark.

Dave, Derek's in Bristol for work on Monday. I'm sure driving an Elise back from Bristol would be a lot more fun than an easyjet flight which will no doubt be delayed or cancelled! He could collect it (but not pay for it) for you :D
